Flicker...please, who cares. A shilouette is simply a under exposed subject usually in the foreground against a brighter exposed background but as stated it is subject to artistic bending of those rules. Also usually lacks a presence of midtones

A sailboat in the setting sun, person walking a dog across street at top of hill, a bride from behind gazing out a draped window with outside being exposed for etc.

A silhouette is what meirvin and nitro circus represented. Your photo just has dark shadows on the subject from the sunset.

Don't take it personal, just pointing out. It's a great photo, but for the contest theme I think it's between meirvin and nitro circus. Tough choice but I voted meirvin.

oh, so you must be the guy that knows everything about photography then, finally someone that can give us all the answers; because i consider my shot a silhouette.

I'm sorry but i disagree with you, Photography is very subjective, just because you say its wrong, does not at all mean its wrong. and im not taking it the wrong way. im making a point.

again, it all depends on what you consider a silhouette.

Lol if you aren't taking it personal then why are you getting defensive? Clearly that remark is getting personal. Obviously you think your photo is 100% silhouette, otherwise you wouldn't have posted it. I explained my reasoning as to why I voted for who I chose.

 no, im not taking it personal im tired of people telling other people what does or what doesnt qualify as a certain style of photo. you have no say with what or what doesnt determine a silhouette.

we're done discussing this. next post about this will be reported to teh modz.

"In photography, a silhouette is defined as an outline that appears dark against a light background. More specifically, it is where your subject is seen as a black shape without detail against a brighter background."

It's not ME that's telling "other" people what qualify's as a silhouette. It's the definition, rofl.

    EDIT:

Yes, your photo is a little bit of a silhouette...just not completely. Which is why I said in the first place I voted for someone else...based off of YOUR contest rules.
