Honestly, once you get into the flow of the event its not that hard. The pain in the ass part is fighting for best spot to shoot from.

    Agreed.

youd have to be really careful and scope out the events well before they actually happen and then also make sure you know where the light is going to be.

id gladly shoot the Olympics :D

as far as lighting go, its a dream to shoot at a Professional level facility. The lighting is great (as it is usually lit for TV coverage).

I've always thought about shooting for Getty Images, AP, and the US Presswire.

    Thanks

I'm hoping to be the Photoeditor with the School's paper next semester. If I am, I'll be the one covering the RNC.

I've done a major GOP debate, covered multiple Sports games, as well as school related events.

Posted in the other thread but I'll post in here as it might be seen here as well.

Anyone have experience with this lens?

    Tokina 400mm f/5.6 AT-X SD AF

Me and AJ were talking, I can't justify looking at the Canon 400mm when I know I will only use it a handful of times a year. That Tokina can be had for around $400 versus the Canon at $1000+. Any suggestions or input on the lens above and below is a picture of what the lens looks like.

Canon 400mm on the left, Tokina in the middle and the Canon 70-200 on the right.

What would you use the 400mm for? and is 5.6 fast enough for the lighting available?

For sports when the 70-200 won't cut it. Mostly football and baseball. And the high school I shoot for has really good lighting so 5.6 would be fast enough for that specific field. I don't travel with the team too awful much.
