dude you have a crop sensor and are using a FX lens....

    70-200 becomes 120-320 (with a 1.6 crop factor)

I've been able to shoot plenty of baseball games, and will be shooting football games only with the 70-200. You just gotta be near the action.

Yeah...I know. sometimes I felt like the 70-200 even with the crop factor wasn't enough. I feel timid getting real close due to being almost hit several times and I don't have insurance on my gear. But I was just looking to see what was out there other than the Canon 400mm.

Being hit or nearly hit is part of being a sports shooter.

I'd say rent the 400 5.6 from BorrowLenses to see if it works out for you

True...it is. And it is a thrill for sure no doubt about that.

And yeah I may have to look into doing that.

So I have a rock climbing photo shoot in September (hopefully) that I'm starting to prep for gear wise. I'm trying to find a quality bag to hold some gear while I'm hanging a good ways up the rock. Something small but yet big enough to hold about 2-3 lenses and some small misc items like a hoodman, CF cards, lens cloth, battery etc. It needs to be able to zip close so there's absolutely no chance for anything to fall out.

Anybody know of a bag off the top of their head? I've looked a bit into Lowepro and Think Tank but I'm still looking.

Take a look at Think Tank's Modular system or the Speed Racer

    Not enough.
Selling a Nikon AFS 35mm. Had it for 4 months with little use. Turns out I need a more versatile zoom lens.

I'll put up pics after work.
