You do realize there is massive ammount of electronics in Hybrid right? much much more then whats in regular vehicle..
Second Gasoline does not tend to explode on contact with water most abundant chemical on the planet.
yeah if the Hybrid is used for groceries then fine... but if you need to take that thing outside the parking lot you will be in trouble. Water screwes up alternators and other electronics i nthe truck when you are not carefull. Imagine what will happen when you pack those electric engines with mud.
Rav 4 has that 4i drive or something like that and you can not take it off the pavement. The hell I need 4wd then

I'm just saying that issue with lithium batteries and water is way overstated. Ever drop your cell phone in a puddle, or accidentally run it through the washer? Did it explode?

Imagine what happens when you pack a gasoline engine with mud, lol. Though I'll give you it is more likely if you put the drive components in the wheel. It isn't exactly rocket science to seal the wheel up so that doesn't happen though.

    That rav4 must be just...[IMG]

My mother has a rav 4 with 4wd for winter... Makes sense to me. Why do cars have awd, they normally don't go off-road? Most idiotic statement ever posted.

Wow, if done properly that would mean a huge huge increase in available torque for the tacoma! Having all your torque available at 1 rpm would be pretty sweet, but might be a little on the heavy side....

so im just thinking if they are investing this amount of money into the 2012 this must mean that they do not plan on stoping production on this model in 2013. wait no that would be practical and we know that automakers arnt that anymore.

Here's a review of the Silverado Hybrid:
    http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/15/review-2010-chevrolet-silverado-hybrid/

Loses towing capacity (about 38% less), costs $10K more than a comperable equipped gas Silverado, and only gets about 3mpg better in city driving (same highway).

Diesel is definitely the better option. Fairly low tech by comparison, probably last twice to three times as long, and would get better torque and mpg.

well GM is hella stupid. if you have a giant V8 no matter how much of a hybrid it is it's still gonna suck gas.

but yah i'd love to see a diesel....or a hybrid done RIGHT. it has potential...maybe toyota can make a true hybrid truck.

Any hybrid is not going to get much better gas mileage than it's gas equivilant's highway mpg. Plus you're going to sacrifice towing capacity and bump the price way up.
