GM is never the answer. That Duramax requires an oil pump belt change at 100K - and yes, you have to take the transmission out (front of the engine is in back lol). It's a 14 hour labor job. Anyhow, GM transmissions are also complete shit. I think the GMC is the nicest looking truck on the market period. Top that with the Denali interior and it's near perfect. But reliability is shit. (I used to work for GM FYI)

Aren’t Tacoma 3G fans (not saying you) calling GM transmissions shit the pot calling the kettle black? I do agree the 2G Colorado gas transmission was shit. You can’t persuade me that the Allison transmission in HD is garbage though.

Allison is decent. I'm not talking about transmission performance (Tacoma's is kinda lame) - I'm talking reliability. Nothing can match a Tacoma's reliability whether you like the performance of the product or not.

Where is the long bed manual? I don’t think it’s available at all?

My 2017 had been totaled right during Covid shortages. Took me 4 months to find a lunar rock OR and I had to fly to Atlanta and take a 45 min Uber to get it and drive it back to Tampa. Soooo I didn’t have much choice. Honestly the dealer was great, but there were already installed packages and it was on the lot. I was just saying it all adds up quickly to balloon past sticker price. I haven’t paid much attention to Tacoma lead times since I got mine. Hopefully it’s better.

It’s going to be tough to even get a tacoma for a year I bet… what you you guys think?

I am planning to hold out for the TRDP or TH. Depending of pricing and options.

However I spent this weekend looking at all the information you guys have been posting (you guys rock) and I am actually starting to turn more toward a Tundra. I just don’t want a full size truck. They are nice and all but it’s just me and my woman. It’s pretty much over kill for our lifestyle. But I spec’d out a Tundra Limited with the stuff I would want and it’s $68,000 and change. Local dealer is offering 3k off…

if the Pro is going to be into the mid 60’s like we are guessing it’s going to be a tough sell.

Yeah, it will be challenging to get a Tacoma the way you want it over the next year, and basically no discounts. The Tundra has plenty of availability currently and you can get $5k off with some negotiating.

That is what I plan to do.

I just have the feeling these guys predicting a 65-70k TRDPRO and TH are going to be right.

I am not saying it’s good or bad. it just may not be for me after all.

I think I’m going to refer to the new Pro and TH as “Super Tacoma’s” lol

I think they are going to sell the crap out of the non-hybrid trims. It’s going to eat up that tier of midsize for sure.

The complaint was in the shift logic. The 3rd gen AC60 transmission is mechanically pretty robust, stronger than the 2nd gen's A750 :notsure:

Cyber Truck will probably by 70K with the better battery configuration so not sure it will steal from Tacoma. Yet, the prices on the new Tacoma are indeed inflated and some folks will even pay above MSRP to get the truck now. Those who hold off for ~2 years there will be able to get the truck significantly below MSRP, IMO. I think you could save on the order of 5K by just waiting and letting the bugs get worked out.

I prefer acquiring mine before the mandatory kill switch.

If a non-i-Force Max Limited is 52K, I can't imagine what the hybrid models are going to cost. Add to that dealer markups and I feel like the pricing might get so high, that people will ask themselves if they should get a Tundra instead.

Sure they will, and some will make the jump and some won't have the garage space for it.

You could safely add another 4 grand to the msrp for hybrid I'd bet.
