Should we all blow them up at once?
A $52,274 Tacoma TRD OR is still tough to swallow.

Go for it. Maybe @TacoBuffet would be interested. They just emailed me this and said it is available. It has the $3800 discount on it.

Mine is getting built this week, I'm good. Alot of the allocations that just dropped including my dealers are January slated builds.

Any of these first allocations are gonna for sure be MSRP or over, there's too many people interested / in demand.

Just did a little bit of truck shopping today. Y'all are gonna think I'm crazy, but I shopped a Tundra against a Frontier.

I was using the online Toyota configurator for the 24 Tacoma and felt that the pricing is a touch high (not that the truck isn't worth it, it's a better truck, but nothing's free) and knowing dealers will try to milk it above MSRP for a while, then full MSRP for another while, just a bit more than I want to pay.

I kinda zeroed-in on a lower end OR crew cab 6' with just the front sway disconnect and 14" infotainment. Just under $47k, and of course the first salvos of Tacoma's are likely to all be loaded for a while. That got me to looking at Tundra, found an extended cab 2023 sr5 with TRD OR for $51k, very well equipped and apparently marked down a bit. I also realized most Toyota dealers in my area only carry Limited short beds and up, I think they need to start carrying more SR5's with the economy getting funky..... anyway...

Then I looked at a Frontier crew cab long bed 4x4. Typical Nissan mark downs, $38.8k for an impressively loaded truck. Heated seats and steering wheel, power seat, 120v 400w in bed and cab, bigger LCD screen in the cluster then the Tundra, park assist, BSM, tow package, etc.

Really want a Tacoma, but I can probably get a Frontier for $8-10k cheaper than a Tacoma, and with trying to pay cash or down payment until the payment is under a few hundred, that matters big time.

I've always had good luck with Nissan rwd/4x4 vehicles, so I don't have a bias against a Nissan. I like both Toyota and Nissan trucks.... only brands that can get me a longer bed.

I had an F150 Lightning reservation. Was ready to be happy with XLT + the long range battery. Was thinking it would be in at least a similar price range to an XLT F150 4x4 with gas engine. Wrong, $82K. Nope. NFW. Way over priced versus comparable capability. Cancelled reservation got back deposit.

You are not crazy, absolutely right answer is to cross shop. Vote with your wallets and long live competition (and capitalism).

The early G4 Tacomas will be high trims and high demand. If everyone of them gets bought they will keep that mix of trims and price.

Not crazy at all. I aways look and drive them all before I buy.

Did you drive the Frontier? Supposedly the V6 in that is pretty sweet.

Haven't driven the 3.8, although I do own an Infiniti coupe with the 3.7, which is only slightly more powerful than the 3.8 and I love it.
Going to go more seriously look at the Frontier, as in actually drive it this time.

The frontier is OK to drive....not great, not terrible. My big takeaway when I drove it in 2022 was how dated the refreshed interior seemed. And I swear they are using the same camera and screen as my 2015 Nissan Pathfinder....which is crap.

And with Ford you can order a Raptor and not have $2,500 worth of Ford accessories forced onto you!
