Official Proper Sequence for Jump Starting

Nope it is always true unless you have one of those old European Vehicles with a positive grounded system. It works the same only in reverse.

-Good battery negative to ground on dead vehicle
-dead battery positive to good battery positive.
Reverse order when done.

You don't want to accidentally make a live circuit where it shouldn't be.
