Picked up a new roscoe. Well, far from new...

The first gun I ever bought was a RHKP (Royal Hong Kong Police) marked Smith and Wesson Model 10. I sold that gun to help fund my move to Alaska and have more or less regretted it since. I saw that my LGS had gotten in a 10-7 marked RKHP so I ran over and after a little negotiation I brought it home.

I decided to change the grips to some Pachmayr gripper pros that I had and clean it up a little. A little became a lot after seeing what was coming out of the gun, so I popped the side plate off and got to scrubbing with some hoppes and then added a couple drops of oil to all of the pivots and slide points.

Glad I found this place. I love 1911s but I carry polymer, striker-fire guns so that’s what I’m most proficient with. I have a soft spot for revolvers though. Mostly S&W .357mag K frames. I have a 2.5” 66-5 that’s not in the picture. Would love to add a 2.5” pony to my stable but can’t afford one yet. CA prices are ridiculous.

Yes and yes. Nice group. Nice thing about revolvers is no shell casings scattered about.

Here is my 1966 Smith & Wesson model 19-2
4 inch 357. I purchased it from the original owner about 8 years ago. Still shoots beautiful. 0EB232BE-6BCA-4DFD-8AE8-71542292577F.jpg

I love bringing revolvers to the range. I reload so I’m the dumb ass you see chasing his brass around the range.

Beautifully done bob job on the grip. M19-2 was only available in a round butt with the 2-1/2" barrel, and that RB on your gun doesn't match the curve of the factory RB. It really looks good like that. I've got a dash-3 with the 4" barrel.

If you're shooting revolvers, why are you chasing your brass?

Interesting about it not being a round butt. The frame and barrel numbers do match.
Either way I paid $400 for it 8 years ago. Last year I was offered $1150 from a local Smith and Wesson collector. He told me that in 1966 the Navy Seals in Vietnam used a 19-2 4 inch with a factory Round Butt. I have not been able to find this information.

Maybe I spoke too soon. In the S&W Standard Catalog, 4th Edition, it says in the first paragraph of the description, "round butt available on 2-1/2" version only". Then a bit further down under "variations", it mentions "Model 19-2: 50% premium in higher grades".

Further along on the next page (there were many variations in special orders), the first mention of a round butt with a 4" barrel: "Office of Naval Intelligence, marked ONI, 4" barrel with round butt (1965).....ONI stamped on left side of frame. 1000 manufactured and issued to ONI and FBI.... SN range K544000-K624000."
Below that: "Naval investigative Service (NIS) Feb. 1966...an additional 200 of the 4" round butt M19 marked NIS issued to Special Agents of NIS". The specific dash number of these guns isn't mentioned, but given the date, they are almost certainly M19-2's.

There are many more variants listed, but either the date is all wrong for a M19-2, or the dash number is listed in the information. So, there are round butt M19-2's out there with a 4" barrel, the literature doesn't address yours (unless yours is an NIS or ONI gun, you didn't show the left side on your picture), but about anyone could order a gun any way they wanted back in those days.[/QUOTE]

I just like to play fetch with myself. Kidding. I meant I like it when I take revolvers to the range because I don’t have to chase down my brass.

Have to love model 10’s. Hopefully she times up well and doesn’t have end shake.

    Anyone familiar with Webley?
Trying to get more info from all the markings. If anyone has input that would be great.

    So here it is.

Wanted to trace where it’s been and how it got there. It has some interesting markings stamped.

The break has a matching serial # on the barrel and the underside.. that’s a huge plus!

Which one, selling the gun, or moving to Alaska?

I figured as much; I'm the same way. Whenever I take my semiauto's to the range, I try to get the firing position nearest the parking lot. There's a large curtain to keep ejected brass from flying into the lot, so it makes chasing mine a lot easier, they all drop in a small area.

I picked up my last gun this weekend (of course, that makes about 4 of my "last guns"). I found a new in the box, unfired S&W Model 58 from 1967. It's been a safe queen for over 50 years, finally made it to daylight. It won't remain unfired, I reload for .41 Magnum, also own a Model 57 just a year newer in age.
