IMO it seems like people don't want to cause any grief for Derek. They just want their sliders and their frustrated that a) it's running so late and b) there's been little to no communication as of late.

If I remember correctly there was a slider group buy on a different Tacoma site too. Maybe their sliders went out first. I think he's just really bogged down. This is probably one of those situations that he's never experienced and now that he has he'll never "over extend" himself again. I'm more than willing to give Derek the benefit of the doubt. I also didn't order any sliders. :D

NO!! i honestly hope no one cancels/contests their payments. i DO NOT want to screw derek out of money for materials that he's probably already purchased expecting to make X # of sliders.

salty hit the nail on the head, i'm mainly frustrated with the lack of communication. if he was more open what was going on (and gave reasonable dates for shipments...) then i wouldn't be upset about the time frame at all. however, if you tell someone it's going to ship, it needs to ship. no excuses. if you can't get it out, tell me why and i'll probably give you the benefit of the doubt. however, no contact and they were supposed to be shipped a month ago? what's up derek? i would agree this isn't very good customer service, but i also understand that he's not in this biz for customer service... he just needs to keep in mind that customer service is how you lose or gain customers.

assuming the sliders do ship and i'm happy with them i'll give derek a good reference. i will mention how long it took and the lack of communication tho.

so i did give him a call, and it went to voicemail. i left him a message and told him pretty much what we've been talking about.

please, PLEASE let's not flood derek with phone calls, voicemails, or PMs. hopefully he will call me back and we can sort out what's going on, and i will keep this thread updated.

yea... so far his track record on communication went from great - when i gave him money - to horrible - after he said he'd ship my sliders, i haven't heard anything. i have a pm from him *claiming* my sliders were in a group going out on the 3rd. "not shipped yet, i have a bunch scheduled for a wednesday pick up and yours are with those..." was the PM i got. wednesday, i assume the 3rd as i rec'd that pm on 6.1.09.

derek, i'm really tryin to have faith here but the complete lack of communication is baffling.

LOL. Everybody was getting all pissed off in their heads at him. Sure as shit the poor guy had to get a procedure that saved his life assuming his appendix burst or was getting ready to. <---Probably caused by the stress of making your guys' sliders. You should be ashamed of yourselves. :D

LOL his appendix did actually burst. he called me just a few minutes ago.

he sounds like he's doing ok and has people helping him move heavy stuff, so he can just focus on welding.

sounds like he definitely bit off more than he could chew, but assured me that work is still progressing - and the vast majority, if not all of the sliders should go out in 5 days...

i was hoping there was a perfectly good explanation for the complete lack of communication! i was just hoping something worse didn't happen... i mean something bad definitely happened and i wish derek well, but hey he's alive right? and not out to screw anybody? i feel better.

hrm... i mean the last week i'll let him slide but there were three weeks before that... i'm not saying derek is a bad person, just that he doesn't communicate very well. he's a good guy, he returned my phone call and assured me about the status of the sliders. just needs to work on his communication, that's all.
