yea, i want my money back derek. i talked to him again today and AGAIN he claimed my sliders were "ready to ship" and was complaining that he couldn't get his money back from UPS. i keep telling him to use the shipping fees towards whoever buys my sliders... i dunno. either way, i want my money back.

i'm not supporting someone who runs a business in this fashion. this is disgusting, and i don't think he is legally running his business as i couldn't find him in the BBB in oregon.

A BBB accreditation is NOT a LEGAL requirement of operating a business anywhere. The BBB is not a gov't agency and had exactly 0 power to do anything...They are for voluntary information only.

$60 bucks:eek: Shit i spent a whole lot more than that. He had to weld all the gussets and plats on to the sliders. Oh yeah but he had to cut the 2 outside legs down cause they were a 1/4 longer than the middle:confused:. he figured that out after he welded the plates and gussets on:mad:. he had about 4 hrs into them. I should have had him make the sliders it would have been cheaper.

On a good note he said he will do bumpers:yay::woot:

I will have to check mine to make sure they are the same size. A lot of people go to exhaust shops rather than offroad shops since its cheper. its all mig anyway

interesting... don't you have to get some sort of a business license at least? is there anything i can do? you make it sound like there's nothing i can do at this point.... i figured the BBB would be the best place for me to start.

You can try legal remedies...You'll have to take him to small claims court in the location where his business is most likely. And then prove that he did something illegal...which while he may not be communicating or planning well...I don't think what he has done has risen to illegal.

Most likely other places you order a custom bent/fabbed product from would have told you 8-12 weeks and may or may not know where your sliders are at any specific point in time.

Probably need some sort of business paperwork for tax purposes and have to abid by the laws regarding the shop space and business type you have. But the BBB is a voluntary, advisory service. If you want their little sticker- You have to play by their rules- but if the sticker doesn't matter...Not much they can do.

    Best of luck.

PS: I think paypal has a limit for disputes.

i tried to dispute thru paypal, they said they don't do those types of transactions essentially. i don't want to take him to small claims...

and i am NOT saying he has done anything illegal to me - lack of communication is not illegal. i was (albeit angrily) insinuating he was running his business illegally. i should not have done that, i need to do more research before i start throwing accusations like that around.

either way, i do want my money back. if derek told me it'd be 10 weeks or whatever we're at from the get-go i'd be fine. but he told me that my sliders would ship the end of the week of 5/15... and lets just say he missed that mark *just* slightly. and he's done this to many others as well (that is making statments that he can't possibly live up to) the funny thing is, on TTORA there's a thread under the sponsored section that starts very positive - people are giving incredible feedback about derek, saying how their sliders were made the same day or within 2 days etc.

it just seems he's bitten off way more than he can chew - and my issue with this entire situation is not just an almost complete lack of communication, but any dates he set go flying by without any more communication. if you're going to miss a ship date, you better tell me and you better tell me why. i'm sorry, i can't support his business if this is how he operates. i just want my money back at this point. these sliders are cheap, they look like they're built VERY well (although it seems some have had legs that differed slightly in length...), but dealing with derek is not worth it. can i please have my money back derek?

have you tried calling him? honestly all my electronic attempts to contact him have been completely ignored, but my phone calls have worked quite well. he'd usually return my voicemails within 5 minutes - that means you should leave a voicemail. i don't know if he screens his calls or what; he usually didn't answer the phone, but did return vms. good luck.

I talked with derek on the phone, 2 days in a row. He said that he wasn't able to get refunds to anyone yet, because his money going to paypal seemed to be in limbo. He told me to send a money request through paypal for the amount paid, so that he could pay with credit.

I did as he said, and so far it is still pending. I am going to call him in the next few days and see if he actually paid the order.
