    crap bolted and welded together....

and to add, binding size. If you have about an 11 maybe 12+, a large binding is required. Also try to find a binding that has a slide toe step built in. That way you can get a little more bite on your toe edge. I used to be a sponsered rider for 2 years before school got in the way. So think about my advice.

Were you factory sponsored or shop sponsored? I was sponsored by East of Maui out of Annapolis, MD but when I went to school that was dropped. Still rock the stickers though!

I ski. I just bought some new Salomon Race 24h Equipe skis along with a new pair of Salomon X3 race boots... Second storm of the week is expected to drop between 8-12 inches over parts of our region. I do most of my skiing at some very small local hills in Southern NB, but take a few mid-week trips to Maine and New Hampshire throughout the season.

    Who snowboards or skis?

Ski'd from '88 until '92, started snowboarding in '93 and never looked back.

    What do you ride?

Freeride setup is Atomic Don 159 with Ride Team bindings and Burton Driver X boots
Park/pipe setup is Option Sanslone 158.5 (rides shorter) with Burton Custom bindings and older Vans boots.

    Where?

Local hill is Blue Mountain in Ontario.... lame.

Fernie, BC. Kickinghorse, BC. Whistler/Blackcomb, BC. All over Ontario, Tremblant, QB. Le Massif, QB. Mont. St. Anne, QB. Sutton, QB. Jay Peak, VT. Killinton, VT. Burke, VT..... and I'm sure I'm missing a few.

Got any trips planned this season?

Hell yes! Revelstoke, Fernie, possibly Jacksons Hole.

    Pics?

None on the work 'puter.. I'll have to put some up from home.

    Vids?

Some, but picked up a helmet cam this year so I'll have tons of vids now!

For free-riding/big-mountain riding I much prefer a stiff boot with zero heel lift.

The Driver X's are quite stiff, and after 3 seasons on them, they are still very stiff. I get next to no heel lift in them, and I didn't even have to use the ankle boomerangs in the padding of the boot. (The boomerangs are included with the boots in case you do get heel lift.)

My only comment on Burton boots, and this applies to the majority of them is: Make sure when you size them, you size them snug. Burton liners pack-out more so than other boots I've owned. Go an extra 1/2 size smaller than what feels comfortable when trying on the boot new.

IMO - boots are by far one of the most important pieces of equipment. If your feet get cold due to circulation from pressure points and such, or get sore, it will make for a crappy day on the slopes. Shell out for a comfortable boot that is good quality and will last. Heel lift is also no good. Make sure your heels stay snug and planted on the sole.

Great advice. I agree with it all. I found that DC boots are the same way. Wearing two pairs of socks now so that they fit snug.

I've always wanted to give snowboarding a try. I have an Original SIN board with Division 23 bindings that I salvaged from the trash when I was still a garbage man. I have yet to try it out....need some boots first and, not really sure if this board would be the proper size for me or not. As a skateboarder, it seems like the natural thing to do in the winter.
