Initially hand thread but they just barely went on (for now obvious reasons). And, probably doesn't matter but it was a multi-speed battery powered impact wrench. But yeah, I accept that this is partly on me. It shouldn't have ever been an issue.

Getting ready to mount now and I’ve discovered the same nonsense. Fender brackets have two large holes and the bumper is setup for a small and large version. Going to use factory bumper flange nuts because new ones are wrong thread pitch.

    :smack:
Current Mood for SSO. Not mad enough to not put it on and rock this thing, though.

That looks perfect. Remember, you can always take more off but you can’t put it back on. And don’t rush it either. I did not follow my own advice and I took a little bit too much off.

Go 1/4" at the side right? Then not worry about the side since I got the Stage 2.

Can someone post a picture of their correct fender brackets?
Did they match the holes on the bumper like the one on the far right in this pic?

I just received my replacements and they are ~1/2” longer than the originals but the holes do not match up...

Mine had the bigger holes in the bracket, but the holes in the bumper were like your pic.

I get mind installed on my 2nd gen today. Luckily, I got delayed by the Christmas holidays and learned from the guys who installed first. So, mind went fairly smoothly.

Like the others, I had to use the six factory nuts since the supplied nuts were incorrect. My fender brackets worked without a problem.

I got mine on Tuesday! Looks pretty sweet! First impression, slightly regretting not having it powder coated. I was planning to use this as an oppportunity to get an undercoating paint gun, and just to have another fun project to work on. But Not sure how effectively I am going to be able to get into the nooks and crannies. Anyone have any tips or painting jigs they want to share with the group?

Also, idk if its just because I ordered it bare or what, but a lot of the edges seem to be pretty sharp still. I think im going to have to get the grinder going to smooth some of this out. Can anyone else comment on their edge condition?

Have they corrected any of the hardware issues or is everyone receiving incorrect nuts and brackets? @SouthernStyleOffRoad, care to comment one whats going on with the hardware?

I'm 99% sure I received the same fender bracket as you and I cannot find any orientation where they fit. Did SSO send you replacements?

That picture is of the originals and the replacements. According to SSO, the ones with two different sized holes (that actually match the bumper--the one on the far right in the picture) were incorrect older versions that "should have already been thrown out". Seems counterintuitive but I'm done going back and forth with them. When I questioned the smaller bolt that would match the bumper vs the larger hole on the bracket they advised to use washers (that were NOT in the original, second, or third hardware shipments that I received).

Again, love the bumper. Unimpressed with quality control and customer service.

#23 on the list. Bumper is scheduled to arrive via FedEx tomorrow so I pulled the truck into the garage and cut some plastic off.

    My garage.

So waited all day for FedEx and they finally show up in the dark at 6pm!

The bumper is very well packed and in good shape.

    065C3237-4606-4A2F-83C2-71CA9703103E.jpg

Unfortunately the Stage 2 parts that where finished and ready to ship on November 15 were not in the box!

So now I guess I’m going to install with winch and hope I can add the stage 2 at a later date with out having to drop the whole bumper.
Twenty some thing days til our three week road trip to the southern deserts, it’s a little stress I could have done without right now.

I just heard your message. Trying to track down what happen, I apologize. It seems you ordered 4runner stage 2s with your Tacoma bumper, and I think when I was shipping Stage 2s out in November I somehow cleared your 4runner Stage 2 out the system. I will be contacting you when I have a little more information.
