Disappointed is not strong enough a word. I found it repulsive.

My son enjoyed it though. I guess that’s all that matters at this point.

The next set of movies are supposed to take place in a completely new place with completely new characters. Why not produce garbage then with whatever new you want to do and at least let us enjoy the last of these with the same old Star Wars style. That is what I don't understand.

The same people bitching about TLJ would bitch about not knowing wtf happened to the old people and how the Empire rose yet again.

In a series of such love and fanboyism, there is no winning.

You can't just blame Johnson, I mean the higher ups seem to have given him the go ahead and a blank slate for his own trilogy. Before Rian they were going through directors left and right. I mean if you want it to flow and have the same vibe and continuity without having to guess someone else's prospective then you need just one guy/girl to tell the story and answer their own questions left behind in sequels.

"A long-term pact with a director like Johnson is the one thing that’s really been missing from Star Wars since Kennedy and J.J. Abrams relaunched the franchise with Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. Instead, the series has seen a series of missteps and public reversals. Director Josh Trank was originally signed on to make a standalone Star Wars film, before being fired in the wake of concerns with his performance on Fox’s Fantastic Four. Gareth Edwards directed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but additional filmmakers were brought on in the final months before release to help rework the film. Perhaps most infamously, filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller were nearing the end of principal photography on the Han Solo standalone film, before they were fired and replaced by director Ron Howard. To top it all off, Jurassic World’s Colin Trevorrow had previously been set to direct Star Wars: Episode IX — before Abrams replaced him in September." https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/9/16630902/star-wars-new-trilogy-rian-johnson-disney-lucasfilm

So I seen it tonight with very high expectations and they were crushed. The first hour or so was just useless junk that didn't seem to really relate to the plot. How could you just kill off Snoke with no insight to his background? And Rey's parents just end up being nobodies? Really? With so much you could've done you take the easy way out and kind of ruin what could have been honestly. And Luke, I don't even know what to say. Not what I wanted to see

Best part of the movie may have been when that little furry thing kinda screamed back with Chewbacca. I already wasn't looking forward to the Han Solo movie and this doesn't make me wanna see it any more. So much potential, and most of it shot down.

Yup... Agree and everything I've already mentioned.

Good review with the exception of the two positives. I still count those as negatives. But it sums up the movie nicely.

Lol... Rogue One was plagued with issues from the start. You could tell the inner turmoil within the movie from the director they hired to when they ended up bringing in a team for all the reshoots. I agree... Rogue One was bad. I almost fell asleep during the first hour. The only good part was the very end with Darth Vader sticking the lightsaber through that dude and the door at the same time. But Jesus... What a disjointed movie. I look at the Star Wars "Stories" as just another cash grab and nothing more. I didn't care for Rogue One (other than it was a war movie that I give Disney credit for making). I sure as shit don't care about a early Han Solo movie. Let Han stand alone by himself. We already know enough about him and IMO was probably one of the best characters of the entire franchise. But if The Last Jedi or Rogue One are any indication... They will fuck up Han's character also. I hold no expectation that the movie will be any good whatsoever.

*EDIT* I "might" watch it when it comes out on Netflix. I'm certainly not going to see it at the theater.

I fell asleep during Rogue One...twice

I’m not excited about a Han Solo movie (I’d rather see a Hans Gruber movie lol) but I am excited about the young Lando in the Han Solo movie because Donald Glover is awesome...

The only real “story” movie I’m excited about is Boba Fet just because you really can’t mess that up. He wasn’t a huge character in the movies as far as a backstory or anything (other than his dad in the prequels during the clone wars) but that was the last we see him until he eats it at Jaba’s or gets eaten that is...that story could literally go anywhere and everywhere and not screw up current canon

I honestly liked Rogue One, not enough to buy it like I did Force Awakens though. It felt like a different type of Star Wars movie, but to me it still felt like Star Wars unlike Last Jedi.
