Really sad to hear that Luke died. He was my favorite character in the trilogy!

I don't really see what the big deal is with everyone being pissed that Rey's parents are nobodies(if that's true). Jedi aren't supposed to have children, every Jedi in every Starwars movie have been children of nobodies expect for Luke.

I'm disappointed in Snoke dying so early and not getting any back story. But I'm good with the way he dies it's typical Sith lord fashion, he's over confident in his power and vison of the future that he doesn't realize that his apprentice could defeat him. Palpatine had a equally easy death with Vader only having to throw him into the reactor thing, and going by the story Darth Plagueis was killed in his sleep.

Hated Leia becoming superman. Would have been a perfect end for Carrie Fisher.

Captain Phasma? WTF was that, why even bring her back? What was with the multiple shot of her eye through the broken mask? She'll be in the next movie somehow, hell she dug herself out of a trash compactor and escaped the planet in the last one.

I don't think the kid at the end with the broom realizes he used the force to grab the broom, hard to tell without rewatching it.

Completely agree with everything stated here. Only thing is it's just a let down that they made a yuge deal about Rey's parents only to spend 10 measly seconds saying they were drunks......

Yeah the build up was a bit much, way happier with this than having it be Luke though.

I didn't want it to be Luke at all. Wanted it to be Kenobis great grand kid...

I mostly agree with you besides Rey's parents, they made a big deal just to end everything in 15 seconds. And the kid, and everything on that planet(that was basically useless to this trililogy IMO) has to be Rian Johnson setting himself up for his own trilogy.

I agree they wasted way to much time on Rey's parents, along with the casino plant and several other areas as well.

I kind of liked the kid at the end, shows that the resistance may pretty much be dead but will live and be reborn much like the jedi. There are many more scene's I'd cut before that one.

I mean the end scene was nice, no problem with that and the meaning behind it. But I feel the rest on cantobright (?) was unneeded. Still think the kid will end up being his main protagonist in his trilogy. If its true that he's doing one.

All in all, JJ Abrams has his hands full for #9

Yeah... Which they should NEVER EVER FUCKING CONSIDER in my opinion. Like I mentioned earlier, Disney has completely ruined this franchise now. I know I'll sound like a Star Wars geek after saying this but when I was 8 I joined the Star Wars fan club. They used to send out monthly newsletters (I really wish I would have kept them along with my original Millennium Falcon) and I vividly remember that there were supposed to be 9 movies total and that was it. Of course being 8 at the time I didn't understand that we were seeing the middle three movies until that newsletter and it didn't make a lot of sense to me at the time. Only later did I realize that was a pretty good idea. They even had the names and release dates of every movie up to Episode IX that was supposed to released in the year 2000. I remember thinking to myself "I'll be 30 when that movie comes out!?!?).

Well we all know what happened after that... The movies didn't come out as planned and the prequels were delayed. After the prequels came out George Lucas said he never said that there were going to be 9 movies. I wish I would have kept that newsletter that actually had all the names and release dates but there was a pretty big uproar after he said that.

Skip foward to two years ago and TFA came out. And yes I will wholeheartedly agree that it was a rip off of A New Hope but as I mentioned before, it kind of had to be to bring younger generations into the Star Wars universe and get them invested. And it did get a lot of people invested in a big way (including myself). TFA came out and although not perfect by any means it still made me feel like I was 7 when I walked out of the theater. Rian Johnson, Disney, the writers, and whoever else was involved in making The Last Jedi should never be allowed to be involved in a Star Wars film again because they clearly do not understand what this franchise means to a lot of die hard fans.

Now... Rian Johnson has been given the green light for three more Star Wars movies set in another galaxy with new characters. Not to mention the Star Wars spin offs that come out every year in between a Star Wars movie (who the hell knows who's directing those movies?), Disney is just printing its own money. I'm all for them making a profit but not at the expense of a series that has been near and dear to the hearts of millions that got to see the original trilogy in theaters as they were released. They have dumbed down this franchise that I no longer care about anyone in it. I won't rehash all the problems with The Last Jedi as I think I've made my point very clear. If you like the movie... wonderful. I'm happy for you. But for all of us that don't like the movie, there is a reason and I've listed the reasons and also the directions that they are moving the series.

I just got home from seeing it. Was difficult to not read this thread for the last couple of days.
I didn't like this one or the Force Awakens. They were not bad movies imo, but just one of those things that should have been left alone. I've been reading the novels ever since Ep3 came out, and I really enjoyed those, so thats where I think the story should have went. With Disney buying out the franchise, completely retconning the novels and expanded universe, I already had a bad taste going in to the new movies. With that said, TFA was bad, but Last Jedi ws worse. I agree with what everyone here has said.

    Except...

I liked Rouge One. Like really really liked it. I thought it tied in perfectly with a New Hope. But I guess because it wasn't a traditional Science Fantasy Star Wars Jedi vs Sith movie, it was a spy / war movie that took place in the Star Wars universe.

But from Disney’s perspective...hate it or love it it’s still going to smash box office records and you and the like will still buy a ticket for future movies even though you hated this one because at the end of the day it’s still Star Wars and that’s all they care about.

When the original trilogy came out it had nothing to compete with at this level. MCU didn’t exist. There was no Thor or Hulk smashing through another galaxy. They have to compete with that now, even though it’s all Disney at this point, but after the studios had tanks like The Amazing Spider Man or Fantasic Four reboots they aren’t going to take chances and will only put their money in sure things. Anything with the Star Wars brand is a sure thing

I didn't mind Rogue One with the exception that it was so disjointed at the start. You could tell when the new directors came in and when the reshoots happened because it got a little more coherent. I look as Rogue One as a pyramid. It started off as a wide base that ended up at a pinpoint moment when the plans were handed to Leia. They literally cold have started A New Hope right then and there. So, at the very least, the film itself made sense. And the "fan service" they placed in the film was pretty cool also. If you weren't a fan you would have never caught some of it.

Please don't take this as condescending but I think I've made that point. I agree... You slap Star Wars on anything people will come running. The issue is, they've ruined the franchise for millions of people. And I don't think I'm alone in saying that.

*EDIT* Unless they give me a VERY compulsive reason to buy a ticket, I'll not be buying one for Episode X (or whatever the name may be)

I remember seeing Empire in the theaters. Rogue One had me on the edge of my seat. We all understood the story.

This film seemed "forced"- puns, storyline, etc. much disappointed.

Just another "lay-up" type movie for another movie. Wash, rinse, repeat.

    Very corporate driven. :pout:

Agree with you I do. That said, my 11 year old loved it and that's the target audience I believe.

Leia should’ve died. Snoke should’ve had his story played out better. The story of Rey’s parents is probably a lie, intended to push her over the edge to the dark side.

The movie wasn’t bad but it could’ve done a lot better job at setting up the Star Wars franchise for after all the original trilogy characters are gone.
