I think they'll do CGI if they had too. I mean you guys seen Rouge One? They CGI'd 2 characters and they looked great. Granted you could tell a little, but that's not they're fault. I think they'll kill her off sadly with some "Death Star Part 4" gimmick in episode 8

You thought that CGI was great? I thought it was terrible, obviously fake and distracting.

I thought it was pretty good. Both were definitely a little off, but definitely did great for the story in my opinion.

Totally made the story better, but the CGI was too obvious. Shiny skin and creepy eyes especially.

I agree. For a brief cameo appearance CGI works great, like what they did with Leia. Tarkin had way too much screen time and the technology just isn't there to make it flow seamlessly in with live action actors.

I wouldn't say great, but it was good for the story. If they had to use that for maybe 10-15 minutes of screen time for here in episode 8 I'd be alright

True that. Quick story on Carrie.

I had the good fortune to meet her last year at the Anaheim Star Wars Celebration before TFA came out. I have a stormtrooper helmet with about 50 Star Wars actors' autographs and wanted hers of course.

She stepped away for a while (rumor had it she was doing "something" back behind the curtain, she was definitely altered in a good way..) and time passed after the hall was closed, we were bummed as we were all in line, 5 of us. Suddenly, she came back and graciously signed everything for everyone. She took the time to talk to all of us way past closing time. She talked to me, sprinkled me with this crazy glitter she had at her table and proceeded to sign my helmet without me seeing what she wrote. I took the helmet and she gave me a sly smile and said "I hope you like it and thanks for waiting for me. Meant a lot."

I walked away and saw the guy in front of me start laughing at his autograph. I looked at mine:

"For Chris, who has the biggest penis on Alderaan. Rock on!! Carrie Fisher" I looked back at her and she was still smiling and waved at me. I waved back and just died laughing.

Rest in peace Carrie. You had a hell of a ride indeed.

Grey area for me cause Tarkin was a big part of that story too but the CGI was a little darker and more "sith like" to me. Got chill when that first scene in front of the window came on.

I think the same effect could have been achieved if they had Tarkin only appear as a hologram, like Palpatine in Episode I. Just be that evil guy behind the curtain if you will.

I would've been happy with that but this definitely adds and arc to his character though. At first I thought they were just going to show the back of his head and have him talk. Which, I would've been happy with that too lol

Seen it twice and definitely better the second time 'round. Looking for the easter eggs and seeing more interesting things in each scene.

I think the CGI worked though was surprised at the amount of time Tarkin was on screen, which is fine by me. I liked him in Ep4, perfect actor for the Grand Moff.

Liked Leia at the end too. Seems somehow appropriate after today.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
bad grammar, but it's a direct quote from episode III.

"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed that is."
