    :woot::woot:(I think)

Just checked the Starlink satellite app @KactusJack posted and found a ground station proposed for installation in the town next door.

Hoping for super low latency speeds once my Dishy McFlatface shows up!

Was hoping my starlink invite would line up with my trip home. Ordered it for my parents, can't wait to get them off Hughes net.. No dice yet.

    I hear ya.

I forgot I was on the waitlist.

Kinda surprised more folks on here haven’t piped up about getting them.

Sub’d. Glad to find this thread. I signed up early in the year and received my equipment in March and it is all still sitting in the box. Moving to a new house in 2 weeks that is 4 miles away and am hoping the geofence doesn’t prevent activating the service. Planning on setting it up at the new house. I did also order the roof volcano mount and the cable routing kit, received those 3 weeks after ordering.

Am planning to use my own router and APs so will be interested to read others experience with that setup.

    I am in Cincinnati.

With my own router the speeds were much slower, but it was a cheap router. I also had no access to the Starlink app data without the Starlink router.

oh i want it. the wife and i are going to be building new out in dripping springs and its isolated. so this is a perfect solution. as i understand it right now though, you have to give them the address that you plan to have it set up at and i can't move it once that's been set. so we're waiting to get setup with them until the house has the foundation poured.

this is going to be for our house.

currently have spectrum(formerly time warner). it's been fine but they are a several miles short of reaching our land in dripping springs where we're gonna build.

I wouldn't bet on ATT/Spectrum building lines anywhere close, unless they can access millions of potential customers.

I’d apply for it now if you have an address for the property. It’s first come. first serve and that includes all countries where it’s available.

Also, I would think there’d be pretty loose tolerances for any “geofencing” system. I also think they’d be accommodating if you needed to go on the books if it’s being installed elsewhere than what you applied for.

This is interesting. Just re-familiarized myself with the info in the App and in the User Agreement on line.

16 day discrepancy with onset of billing once Dishy ships. Per the Account User Agreement:

Payments. When Services become available in your area, subject to Section 1.2 (Refundable Deposit), SpaceX will notify you by email that we are preparing to ship your Kit. You authorize SpaceX to charge your approved payment method for (a) a one-time purchase price on the balance of your Starlink Kit and any accessories, including shipping & handling and applicable taxes; and (b) monthly recurring charges, including applicable taxes, for the Services selected in your Order, starting 14 days after SpaceX ships your Starlink Kit.

    Per the App:

I can report that policy is true and active because I have been charged my monthly $99 fee twice and my equipment has never been out of the box.

I paid the initial $500 on 2/9/21 with my order, the kit shipped 2/23/21, I received it 2/27/21 and was charged the first monthly payment on 3/26/21.

Question, do you have to use the starlink router or can you plug the dish directly into a different router and have connectivity?

if you use the starlink router, and connect a different router into the port on the back, can the Starlink router’s WiFi be turned off?

You do not have to use the Starlink router. I didn't for a couple weeks and everything still worked but speeds were quite a bit slower and you lose some features of the app that track connectivity and you can't reboot the router or set it to stow mode. The dish and router plug into the black power over ethernet box. You can plug your own router in instead of the Starlink router but if it isn't a PoE router you'll have to plug the router into the wall also.

New format for first post. I’ll keep an eye out to post info that might be helpful.

    Feel free to make suggestions.

I don't have much to update other than that Starlink is still working great. I average over 100mbps download and 20mbps upload with the fastest I've seen at 300mbps download and 41mbps upload. I stream 4k video, live broadcast events and play HD/4k video games with only occasional dropouts. Data from the Starlink app usually shows less than 5 minutes a day without coverage. For example, the last five hours shows 12 seconds obstructed (bird landed on it maybe?), 45 seconds of no satellites and 20 seconds of other outages.
