Google Maps says it is 2 hours from me and I am north San Diego in Carlsbad

 

It takes me about 2 hours (+15 minutes if I stop for the dog or w/e) to get to Niland/ Wister Unit (which is up the east side of the Salton Sea on the Top Right corner of the Map Ryan posted) from Santee. Westmoreland is probably closer distance wise to Superstition and is 20 minutes from Niland. So I would say your about 2 hours form SD.

Definitely further than an hour. An hour will have you at Jacumba which is then 15-20 minutes to Ocotillo (depending on how scared of the grade you are). Then you still have the head North.


I have driven to Niland 2 times a week every week since October. Drive out there at least 50 times a year to hunt or fish. These times should be pretty close I would say.

 

That's what I was thinking, 3hrs to sd and maybe 1.5 to superstition...Google maps is call for 280miles and 5hrs 28mins from Ventura...oohwe gonna have some truck ass after that drive

It takes me 2 hrs from san diego / tierra santa area, and thats towing my toy hauler. So your looking at 90 minutes from the 15 and 52 freeway intersection. My buddy drives from Ventura to Brawley and does it in 5.5 hrs..

Sooo I couldn't get friday off because I have a meeting with the district managers.... Which means I will be heading out late afternoon on friday instead of early morning. If anyone else is planning on heading out friday evening/afternoon let me know I wanna set up a caravan!

Actually , thinking about going out there & surveying the area for a good camp spot myself , shit yesterday we were still trying to figure out where & which Superstition to go to. So I'm taking the guess work out of it & gonna line up my spot ahead of time...

 

I'll be getting to SD that Thursday afternoon so I'll roll out with you guys Friday morning. BTW...this is what I'll be rolling in!
