    I'm not sure if I'm glad I found this topic or not. My Grandparents owned the white bungalow apartments on the south side of the first block on 7th and spent time every summer there. My wife and lived there for a couple of years in the late 70's. I remember telling her when they tore down the Golden Bear to build a parking lot that, "that is the end of HB". Sadly enough I was right. The town bares little resemblance to the HB I remember.

    Scarfing an Ortega chili burger at the "World famous end of the pier restaurant" and sucking down a cold one at Neptune's Locker while watching the break will be memories I cherish forever.

    About the only thing that is the same is Dwight's and Jack's which are still run (at least I hope they are) by the Clapps. They are old family friends.

    Now a restaurant and retail shop area where the Golden Bear was located. Rubies diner at the end of the pier, but still have Zacks for the great strips & salsa!

    Yep, another three story shoebox house going up I see....

    My dad and mom are selling right now and are off to Prescott AZ. They still love the city, but say the state is doomed.

    Agree, HB is nit the same anymore. You should see the high-density housing complexes going up, ugh.
