Probably because from what I found it is the biggest tire with the lowest negative impact on the truck's specs and no chopping needed. I'm guessing, but that's what I found.

Yes, you are right. I took this pic then as soon as I set the truck on the ground I saw what I did wrong.. Good eye!

The 235/85 were a great tire size but the Pizza cutter look has gotten old and I didn't get the wear I wanted out of them.. Not sure if it was the tire size or what but the wore down faster then I wanted..

The 285s will fit the stock Tacoma TRD PRO with no chopping or cutting. Plus they look awesome. If you already have a 3 inch lift you won’t have to worry.

hey tacoma trd pro users, I just recently got the PTR13-35150 installed, and I also got the fabfours bumper installed as well. When I got my new frame installed due to the rust, they installed the shocks/strut but my didnt come in time.... Toyota installed the shocks/strut, 4wheel auto parts installed the bumper

Now measuring such, they say when I get the progressive lift, I will only get a about 1/4" lift from truck level. My question is, what is the natural rake of the Tacoma for a 2nd generation 2007. I would like to get my tacoma back to the normal oem rake. I'm not sure if 1/4" lift rake is optimal. At most I load my sv1000S motorcycle on to my truck or haul stuff in the bed, but not really towing. But I like to know that when I tow in the future (state to state for relocation), I will not ever have an issue.

They will be installing the lift this 9/13. They said maybe I should look into 1" block spacers. What are ya all opinions, I have no clue about this and I dont offroad at all. I looked and searched thru the forums but with so many postings I got discouraged.... Please help.

To clarify, we are TX & TX Pro owners. Without getting into the major details, the packages are different than the TRD Pros. Biggest difference is suspension where our suspension is more like the TRD Off Road package and the TRD Pros are bigger and better. I'll ignore the Baja package for sake of arguement.

As for your situation, and this is just my opinion, if you were ONLY worried about rake and wanted to lift the rear, a small spacer block would be the most economical option. BUT since you are talking 1000 lb loads, I would seriously consider upgrading the springs with an add-a-leaf (AAL) spring. This will slightly increase the height as well as beef up the suspension and avoid major suspension and payload issues.

    Just my thoughts.

I think 285/75s are the best looking tire size on the Tacos.. im not worried about the rub on the body if i have to do CMC then i then have to do a CMC, not a big deal.. But I do want to make sure they dont rub on my SPC UCAs. and i love my Black Off-Road Beadlock Style Wheels so getting new wheels isnt and option

I'm going the 235/85 route eventually because you basically get the same wheel well fill look of the 285's (from the side view anyway), but the skinny tire weighs a bit less and runs through deep snow better. That function obviously doesn't fit everyone's needs though.

Ill tell you what. They work great in deep snow and deep mud. They seem to use the wight of the vehicle to pierce the terrain getting better traction.. down side is sand.. Sand will kill you...

ps- The spare tire fits perfect...

With all this tire talk, anyone put 265/75/16s on their TRD wheels? It's only about 1.5" diameter increase, but looks like it would still require CMC.

And now I know my next tire size.

Edit: I also like the look with the blacked out beadlock ring. May have to steal that, too.
