But yes, the correct answer is to read. You will find that trusting 1 person, 1 post, 1 thread, 1 conversation will get you into a bias discussion. There are facts and opinions. Facts sometimes are hard to figure out because people's opinions somehow turn into them. You just have to read/learn enough to decipher between the two.

Having said that ...... Most people buy uniball ucas because of looks. The benefit to them though is strength. They are marginally stronger the ball joints. Hence why they are race car/truck parts. That is the only advantage to them over ball joints. Disadvantages are longevity and ease of maintenance. There are no definitive facts that a uniball will provide more travel then a ball joint nor does it mean that the arms a uniball or ball joint are built into will provide better caster correction numbers then the other. If I were in the market for some ucas, I would buy them based on what look I wanted, what price I wanted to spend and if uniball then some that come with JK stainless steel uniballs

 

Thanks @allmotorrex.(had to try this new name tagging thing, sorry) That answers my question. My truck is not a hard-core off-roader, and certainly not a race truck. The stock BJ's have survived the last two years and probably won't see any more abuse that they already have. I think I'll be weighing out my options in the ball joint category.

 

For 99.9% of people on this site, ball joint ucas are all they need. That doesn't include LT guys or SA guys because LT and SA kits don't come with BJs and if they did then I would sure be upgrading because they need the extra strength. BJs will be perfect for you. Now look into caster numbers added by arms. Some add 3° some add 4°. Depends on how much lift you run to decide how much caster you need but the more caster the arm can add, the better. No matter if you lift the truck 1" or 4", the added caster will help keep your alignment in spec.

And what exactly does that name tagging thing do anyway?

That sounds cool I know I would have to take a week off for that but it would be cool. I have always wanted to go out west.

 

You don't need a rtt. Seems like for the midst part there's one camp site and you leave and come back everyday

Yeah man it would be a sick ass trip. I know the miles driving would suck but not too bad if you designate spots to stop at and site see. Theres a bunch of east coast guys going that are meeting up and riding together. Hell just driving there with a bunch of trucks would make it less boring
