No I heard they can cause damage and don't really do anything other than look good and cost money. Of course I have no experience with that. But that is what I was advised previously

There you go dropping knowledge all over this thread again. You know, that actually makes pretty good sense.
But......... I like welding shit. I haven't welded anything to my truck yet. Sliders seem like a good place to start.

I bolted mine. Wanted to be able to change it up if I wanted without having to grind welds off. But drilling through the frame can get tiresome especially if you do it with a cordless drill with a dull bit after working 14 hours and end up getting a metal shaving in your eye and having to have you wife dig it out with her nails and not having any luck and then letting her stick freaking tweezers in there. I wear safety glasses almost anytime I look under my truck now.

I've never gotten hit in the side pieces, but I was rear-ended by a civic and on the main bumper and didn't do a damn thing to my bumper. I don't have a lot of faith in the side pieces but my bedside was crumpled and that hides the worst of the damage that is left.

Just wondering for yall that don't carry spares under your truck. Did you unbolt the carrier underneath the truck or just raise the chain back up? At the moment I twisted the chain around the plate and the raised it up high enough to sandwich it in between the plate and the carrier.

Wasn't nearly as long as it took to get that metal shaving out of my eye. I still 2 holes with my eye closed while waiting on my wife to get tweezers.

I live in Nashville, born and raised here. But during the school months August-November and January-April I live in Knoxville for school.
