U joints are easy. Carrier bearing is harder but still "easy". You can see if that's it though. U joints - grease them and see if the sound persists. Carrier bearing - take the bolts out and flip it over. There should be play in it but not much. I'd say if you can shake it and it moves more then 1/4" then it's starting to get loose.

How did you determine it was from under the truck?

 

Driving next to walls and stuff then checked all of my wheels, absolutely nothing. But I could tell it was coming from lower on the truck and checked out the bay, nothing. Which leaves that area. But it moves more than a 1/4" I'm pretty sure. I just don't know why it just now started today all of a sudden?

 

Kiss your carrier bearing good bye. By a Toyota one too. Don't fuck around with the cheaper autozone ones. They don't last for shit. Although mines been squealing like that for at least 6 months. So I'll change it when I get around to it.

Fyi I've replaced mine 4 times. And good luck doing that bitch yourself. Take it to a shop. Staceys brother and I had to do it each time.

I'm either calling this the "Don't tear up your bumper cover on the rocks" mod, or the "Increase your tire aproach angles for FREE!!" mod. Still not sure lol.

 

So i'm curious, you thinking about getting a plate/hybrid bumper, or modding that grille guard into something similar?

 

Definitely won't mod the guard. Probably put the cover right back on after AOP, may do a plate or hybrid in the future. Still have to finish my swingout rear.

It actually doesn't look that bad with the bumper off.... at least from what i can tell from that picture.

Get rid of the wheel well liners and paint everything black

 

Yeah it's def pretty haggard looking. Worth the time of taking the bumper off for clearance reasons? It was worth it if you didn't want to hack it up at the moment. Those lower protruding metal pieces on the guard is still a pretty good hang up point but that thing wasn't made to protect anything while offroading

 

May remove the accessory brush guard, it is a bit low and forward. Put it back on to try to HIDE the haggard-ness lol.

 

Still have lots to do today. Today is the last truck day I will get before we head to AOP. I'm traveling this whole week with work and we are leaving as soon as I get back.
