    Some pics are here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/anyone-in-the-columbus-ga-area.307887/page-13#post-11202893

A vid one of the guys got: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj7bV9Xr_rg

My rear suspension is totally shot. Once I lock in what shocks I want (Fox 2.0 IFP or w/ Resi) I'm pulling the trigger (prob wait for blackfriday deals of course)

Only one I got right now, I'm gonna take a few others tomorrow. As far as I can tell, it's completely stock. The guy traded it in on a 2016 tacoma.

If your springs are actually shot I wouldn't waste money on shocks. You can put the fanciest shock ever made on the rear and if they are having to do all the work bc your springs have no spring left in them you will blow out the shocks in 1 to 2 months.

Rear shocks are merely paired with leaf springs to smooth the ride not control the articulation or handle load.

Just trying to be helpful. Don't like seeing people throwing money away if they don't have to.

All in all. New leaf pack, then shocks.

No worries! thanks for watching out . Im pretty set on the standard leaf pack from Allpoo so it was just finding the shocks that will fit and still work well with wheeling and DDing

Im leaning toward the 2.0 IFPs w/ Zack since no one (Levi, Gideon, Kurt, Mike, Everett, anyone else whos been through this) has said much on the contrary. When its not the DD in a few more years Ill commit to resi shocks when no shits are given anymore on the offroad side haha. My monotube 5100's in the rear have been great so I figure the IFPs will be fine too.

I dont remember if Ive asked this already, but can those Fox 2.0 IFPs be rebuilt once they break (which im sure will inevitably happen, it took my first set of 5100s 42k miles of driving and wheeling before they splooged)

Yea, they can. It's like $80 a shock to have fox do it. I'm about to send them some 2.0 RR fronts to be rebuilt and I think it's like $102 each for that.

I'm sure you can. I found rebuild kits online for like $40-80 but then you have to worry about charging them and that's just not something I want to deal with. Lmao I'm all for doing everything myself but rebuilding shocks seems a little past my comfort zone.

I bought the wrong shocks. Don't do that. Make sure you get the right shocks. Still haven't educated myself as to which ones will be the best replacements and so far I have deleted the info from my brain due to disgust in myself for buying the wrong shocks.

Sorry I never said anything. I been lost all weekend. Haha the allpro standards are what I have. I removed 2 leafs to get the ride height where I wanted but it took too much off the payload of the pack so I put one back in. They flex good, ride good and carry weight good. The new Dakar packs seem to also be very good but I don't have any kind of personal experience with them. Just that more and more reputable shops are installing them as a "go to" pack for "mid travel" trucks. The dakars for desert runners have always been good.

As for the shocks, those 2.0 non resi will work fine. A resi on a shock does 1 thing, holds oil. As the shaft on the shock goes up and down, it circulates oil through out the shock body. It also creates friction which creates heat. The more oil you have, the longer it takes to heat it up thus by having a higher oil capacity you are increasing the longevity of performance and wear on parts by keeping the oil cooler.

Now there's parts to this that may and may not matter to you but they are worth mentioning. Since heat is created by friction, the things that can cause this are how fast/frequeanly the shaft moves and the oil itself. If you drive fast, your shock will heat up faster and get hotter. Also the weight and properties of the oil you use are dependent on how fast it heats up and starts to break down. All oils also have an optimal temperature operating range where the chemical properties are working they're best. If this temp is surpassed, the properties start to break down and lose performance. But also if these temps are never reached then the oil can't perform at its best.

The reason some of this may matter is when considering buying shocks things like: vehicle weight, use, outside temps, shock mounting angle, spring rates, etc ....... should all be taken into account. Now yes some of these things can be fixed through valving but that's not what you are wondering about at the moment.

So thinking of the proper shock size, for strength in parts and oil capacity, is just as important as anything else. Yes the springs are what carry the weight of the truck but if that's all you thought about and didn't also think about shock size then you should he fine with putting some hood struts on as rear shocks. Haha could be kinda funny. So for instance when comparing a 2.0 to a 2.5, the 2.5 wins in larger parts which means more strength and wins in oil capacity which means better performance over a longer time span. Of coarse this comes right back to adding in vehicle weight, use, blah blah blah because a 4k pound truck isn't running the same shocks as a 8k pound truck.

Ok really I'm just tired of typing so I hope you got something out of that. If not then I don't care to try again. Haha
