Maybe next time, if there is a next time. Nice that the LBL trip is annual, need an annual Gulches meet so I can schedule appropriatly. Hopefully then it wouldn't conflict with the LBL trip. Looks like a great park but kind of a haul for most of us.

Side note. Anyone else sit in their truck and have adult beverages for 30, 35 mins each morning. Or is that just me :anonymous:
Edit: I work nights, don't have a "problem".

That's a long way for me. Def can't make that trip and the LBL trip. I don't understand wanting to make it that big though. It turns into such an event that you spend more time just standing and trying to figure out what to do then wheeling or relaxing. I've been to some big events (not TW) and I had a lot of fun but I also didn't relax at all and I barely drove my truck. It's just a completely different experience. Now somewhere like Moab is also different but that's like offroading through a whole state, not a small SE park. Haha I think the best way to describe something like that: It's not a meet, its an event.

Someone remind me tonight or tom and I'll make the LBL thread so we can abandon this one. Lol

I made it to AZ alive but there was a serious hickup along the way.

So I'm cruising at 75 about 100 miles from amarillo and all of a sudden all of the light in the cab start pulsing/flickering. The dash, the clock, the temp guage, the radio, everything. I was like well that's weird. I flipped on the headlights to see if they were pulsing and all of a sudden the truck just shut off, everything went dark, all the guages went to 0. So I freaked out and almost pissed myself and started easing to the side of the road like "what the hell am I going to do I'm 100 miles from anything?" Then after what seemed like an eternity of coasting but what was really like 5 seconds, it came back to life and resumed it's cruise control.

So I continued cruising for about a minute and decided it would be prudent to call my mechanic. He said it sounded like the alternator was bad or something with the battery. So I turned off the radio, temp guage, AC, turned the dash lights down pretty low but still bright enough so I could see if they would pulse again. I drove for about an hour like that just hoping and praying I would make it.

About 20 minutes out, the dash started pulsing again so I turned those all the way off. So the only thing that was on in the cab was the clock. I got into town and got to autozone.

They hooked up their little doo-hicky to the battery and the battery was totally shot. (It was about 3 years old and a brand I had never heard of so I'm not surprised) So I had to buy a new one. Thankfully once I replaced it and they could check the alternator, starter, and something else, they said it was all good. Only ended up getting in about an hour later that I had planned and didn't have another set back.

Isn't there a total regional meet at the Gulches in March? Anyone interested in going to that one...it's a 7 hour trek for me.

Regarding the 4th Annual LBL Meet...I should be there this year...still stock though. :(

    Later.
