My truck has developed a new clunk within the last two days. Completely different sound than my oem skid plate/lca bolt contact clunk that I solved last week. Just like y'all are saying, it's a start/stop clunk. Every time I touch the brakes - clunk. If I've been in reverse and then take off forward - clunk. is this the lca bushing clunk you're describing?

So I've had the 6" pro comp lift on my Tacoma for almost nine years. I've actually been surprised how well it has handled and held up. The coilovers had finally had enough and I had some Kings made specifically for the PC 6" kit. I also (and this may well be the entire problem) got a Total Chaos UCA set for the install. I really just wanted to be able to grease them as the bottom line for purchase.

Anyways; I knew the tires would sit back a little further bc of this, but I've not had any rubbing issues etc before this, not even with the 35"s, I figured the coilover height would keep it away from truck just like before.

What I've ended up with because of the alignment requirements has left my whole front end too low to have the performance and clearance that I am used to, this is a daily driving issue as much as it would be off the pavement.

The springs are backed almost all the way off bc of the alignment, and this sits my tires too close to truck for normal maneuvering. I just don't have near the height that I need for what I've grown to consider normal for my truck....

I just wanted to throw this out there and see what you local guys thought about it. I'm pretty sure that if I put the original UCAs back in, that I can correct the problem bc it is that much closer to previous settings... Does anyone have any productive thoughts or insights to this issue? It's a real bummer right now.

Your alignment tech may be an idiot then. As long as your coilovers are cranked enough to hold the same height, the only thing that the upper control arms will do is push the tires forward more (increase caster) which, if you have the factory front bumper, could present a problem with you rubbing the splash guard or the bumper itself, but that shouldn't be an issue.

That's entirely what I've been thinking; I don't know what was so rocket science about the alignment. And with these reservoirs, adjusting them is going to require taking them off and test fitting etc.... I'm just getting pissed.... The front bumper is armor and has plenty of room; but the damn truck sits so low now, that there just ain't room for shit...image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

@Chauncey Bronson the reservoirs aren't your problem, the problem is that your coilovers need to be cranked up. Lift the truck off the ground to where the front wheels are off the ground. And you'll need to tighten down the adjustment ring to give the truck more height at ride height. You have absolutely 0 preload and I'm assuming they were built to have some preload to achieve the height you want.

Right on man, I appreciate the assurances. What I meant about the reservoirs was that bc of them and the hose; I'm pretty sure I'll have to take them and get them out of the way to adjust the springs.

So with the height adjustment on the coils, is that gonna scree with the alignment and automatically make it "not safe to drive at speed"? Would I need to have it realigned immediately? This whole thing has got my head turned around; I just wanna get it where I need it. Thanks for chiming in and stuff man, I have hit a frustration spot, and I just need to get it right, appreciate talking it through

yeah those arms add 3 degrees of positive caster. Thats moving the tire forward. You just need to crank down on your coilovers some. Looks like your cv axles are straight if not the outsides even being up higher. You appear to have negative lift over stock. haha

and are you in Arlington? I live in Arlington if you want some help

Yeah man; the whole thing is upside down to me. Talking with the guy about coil height affecting the alignment.... At any rate; I'm real glad this got bounced out a bit bro; I've not gotten to rational observation of new components; I just see the shit.

And yes I do live in Arlington, & there's beer in it for ya man.

So...... i think I'm going to add washing my radiator and condenser to my regular maintenance list :D i spent a good 20 minutes goong back and forth, up and down, and frint and back trying to get everywhere i could with the pressure washer at work. I feel confident, but i bet @beertimecontinuum and @allmotorrex would agree that it's not a bad idea to hose through the fins every so often.

Is your truck white? I saw a white taco with a PC 6" yesterday around 5:15ish at the stop light just south of trinity and germantown parkway. Was that you?

Yes but pressure washing the radiator fins is probably a bad idea. Garden hose and nozzle will work just fine.

ok, I dont think of TW as social media (that may be an error on my part). FB, trwerker, instabit, snaptalk, etc, I consider social media. ppl on here are way less likely to update everytime they shit and take pics of post it, and saturate this FORUM with political or religious beliefs with all intent to change the way other ppl think/make themselves feel better about themselves....ppl on here just do that with trucks, and im fine with that haha
