Just make sure you take out the fill plug before you take out the drain plug. I'm not sure about that specific trans, but usually fill to the hole for the fill plug on level ground.

Yeah do what Dave said then. I did it last Christmas and it was easy, I also did front and rear diffs and transfer case. All the same way

 

I know on the auto's, there is a "temp check" to make sure its the proper level at the proper temp. Not sure if manuals do that, but I know auto 2nd gens do.
