I have the Cannon EOS Rebel T6i which has been amazing. pretty east to use (im not a camera guy and had to figure out what the buttons did haha) but we have be overly pleased with the quality of pics it takes. the photos of Eliza with the plane and everything were all with this camera as examples.

 

Have you ever seen me use anything relating to army when I am in my free time. . .haha

black....or anything other than army patterns. . . .lol

 

Let me add something to the very informative comments from Brent. Most good camera shops offer lessons. Buy a mid range to high end camera and they'll often throw in a free lesson or 2. These people usually make their lives revolve around photography and know FAR more than most of us will learn from casual experience. ie....They can teach you a lot in a short period of time. If there's anything that my years have taught me, it's that education and information is invaluable. You never know just how much you DON'T know until someone teaches you. A couple hours with a true expert can advance your skills immeasurably.

There's far more to photography than just "point and click".

I just recently got a Canon EOS Rebel T3. I really like it. It's just slightly above "entry level", but with quality lenses, etc, it's MORE than capable of exceeding my skill level. My previous experience was mostly with old "Kodachrome" SLR's and a cheap Olympus "point and shoot". A lot of the old tricks I learned "back in the day" are of a big help, but there's a lot to be learned about the newer technology.

Like just about anything, NOTHING beats experience. Digital cameras take the expense of film and developing out of the equation. Shoot as many pics as you can. Practice makes perfect!

Whatever camera Brent has takes some awesome shots at night I can vouch for that. Those ones from LBL when we were down on the lake blew my mind
