Cv axle boot is all twisted up and it's making an awful noise. Wonder what could be the problem? :notsure:

Yea, it cut up the boot. @rngr, @JBTacoma and any other first gens. I need advice. I've only had 4wd for a couple month and already broke a cv axle. They were the duralast gold. Are there stronger than oem axles I can get? I looked into rcv axles but didn't see any options for first gens tacos. Searched
the first gen forums with no luck and also no answers from google

Sadly to say this is the only option.

Yessir. Got two re-man OEM axels on my taco now. Kept my old ones for a rebuild and spare for future.

So how do you not snap axles every few months. Is this a driving skill issue. I was teetering between front driver and rear passenger tires while driving up onto a creek bank. Gave it a some gas and the front passenger came down spinning, gripped and snapped the cv. I know it was hard on it but I didn't floor it or anything so it couldnt jave been spinning that fast. Just a lil gas and pow.

From what I understand OEM axles are
Much stronger. Never had an issue.

Go OEM, you will just keep braking all the others.
I broke an off brand a few weeks ago, got my OEM back on now.
Go to the junk yard and find a good set and order you a reboot kit.

So your saying the autozone brand is weaker than oem, even though they say built to oem specs. Guess that's what I get for trusting their marketing. I've never had an issue with their parts before but I've also never pushed them to their limit either.

Yes, that’s what I’m saying. Or actually, that’s what Gid and Levi told me. Seems your current predicament proves their point.

Sounds like I'm going to oem then. Wish I had the $200 back from autozone. That would pay for one toyota axle.

Good idea. I noticed you had locking hubs. How to you remover the cone washer. I've always just had to beat the shit out of them with a hammer and brass punch. There has to be an easier way.
