    You do realize you calculate hp based off of torque right. Also a turbo does add some parasitic loss due to a restriction in the exhaust flow although it is minimal compared to a SC. A good engine will have a flat torque curve and not drop off hard until the peak hp is reached. I don't know where you get rods failing more often at lower rpms due to more torque but every single one of my rod bending experiences has been at higher rpms. I've blown up many a motor in my day several of which were turbo and or SC. You can have a SC at full boost well before redline it's how you size your pulleys and the size of the compressor. Your made up #s scenario is like comparing apples to oranges there are far too many things to consider before making that general statement.

    Once you go into heavily modifying an engine it's just too many variables. I wasn't trying to defend SC btw I'm a turbo guy as well. I had an awd eclipse with a stroked 2.4l running a gt40 turbo pushing close to 900hp and around 85 tq to the wheels.

    4 1/2 hours later... head unit, ac controls, instrument cluster, shifter, front console, mid console, a pillar tril, door trim, both front seats, speakers, air bag, and more were removed. Full dash was loose, but wouldn't come out without removing the steering wheel. I was studying how to remove that when...

    She found it. Wasn't in the vent. had fell b/w the dash somehow and was under her carpet in the pass floorboard. Never been so mad/happy in my life. :bananadead:

    Naw I'm with you. I was trying to just point out that a turbo is more efficient and having the assumption that a SC is more reliable and a turbo more maintenance isn't necessarily true because of all the factors. I tried to state a few facts while saying other things not so absolute but once again, it's just too much to type and kinda of just rambled. It's much easier to ramble in person then in text. I can talk an article in 5 mins. I'll never be able to type one. Haha

    Any power adder like a SC or turbo requires more maint than a run of the mill grocery getter engine, even a heavily modified NA engine does. Neither is more or less reliable than the other more due to owner/driver use and abuse. There is a reason manufac. go with turbo more than SC from the factory because no one bothers to do the maint. on a SC like changing it's oil. I saw a lot of SC failures due to no maint done on them. 100% agree that a turbo is more efficient than a supercharger it is taking wasted energy coming out of the exhaust and turning it into more energy/potential energy. I have built a few different set ups for people and even the ones where they were using the exact same turbo or sc there were little nuances that created some differences in the outcome.
