    1.Lightly hose it down,
2.liberally apply simple green/purple power, let sit for a minute, scrub if you can.
3.Hose it off. Obviously avoid alternator, fuse box, battery etc. You can spray it quickly but don't douse those areas.
4.Start engine and let run for a few mins.
5.Turn off. Once engine cool enough, spray the shit out of everything with Armor All tire foam (it's water based). This will do the rest of the cleaning for you. The foam gets in all the crevices.
6.Wipe off the excess after 30 min if necessary.

Disclaimer: my alternator still died, about a week later. Mud had already fucked it all up. I keep a spare in my toolbox now since I can change an alternator in 20 minutes. I have probably killed 3 alternators due to mud. I've never killed an alternator from this cleaning regimen...It's always mud.

There are some others I'd like to try your direction. Everyone just says they're small and it's hard to beat Rush being 30 minutes away and the gorge only 2 hours away

My MTB fork started rattling and it leaked so they sent me a new one and didn't want the old one back. So I took this one apart. No oil, just grease. I may add oil to the bottom legs of the new fork.

Sooo the Alps tent doesn't come with a floor saver... "we offer a floor saver" doesn't mean "we include" it. Ordered that and a streamlight lantern

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Talking to a man in a restaurant at breakfast and he asked why I walked to lake instead of driving.

This was a better part of the "road".
Rental car with low profile street tires.
