Shit I was involved in a car accident on the way home tonight in the Highlander. Low speed, no airbags, but the front axle came loose/was damaged. And I only had liability on it because it's a 2004. I need to get it out of the tow yard, and I can't bring it to my apartment building. Anyone know of an auto body place in Nashville that they would recommend? Or any other ideas?

I'd pay a few grand to get it back up and drivable, No clue how much it will take though. No leaking fluids that I could tell, just some body damage and that front wheel/axle/suspension.

I plan on using Monstaliner this year in my Jeep and then on my truck I like the colors. I can get close enough that I don’t have to worry about door jams. It can be rolled on or gravity sprayed and it come out in two different patterns.

Fix the mechanical stuff yourself. The take it to Peanut in Ashland. He does good work for a good price. My sis is a horrible driver and has wrecked ever car she has owned. Peanut always makes it look new again and comes in cheaper than the insurance quote everytime.

I've looked at monetaliner but I like the fact that I can get whatever color I want in raptor liner and it comes with the sprayer in the kit.

Maybe my old boss got an extra coat or something out on it because that stuff was really rough.

I'd love to, but I can't park it at my building if it's inoperable. Says so right in my lease unfortunately. I'll give them a call tomorrow and get a quote! Much appreciated.

I know they can apply a rougher or smoother coating if you request it. They can even do completely smooth. You're welcome to grope my truck next time if you want to check it out. Feels rough, but not damaging.

I'll be calling one of their Nashville locations in the morning. Hoping to get the Highlander off the wrecker lot asap.

Yea, those wrecker lots charge out the ass. I don’t think price’s does any of the mechanical stuff, they’ll take it somewhere for that. But if you wanna get the mechanical stuff done and worry about the body later, mark’s automotive in hermitage is an incredible shop. I’ve known the owner for years now and they’re stand up guys.

Got pics of the damage? Will the complex boot you out for a couple of days? If you can get it on a dolly you could bring it out here. My storage fees are cheap. Get some junkyard parts and we could make it road worthy again. Here's the info on some a few salvage yards near me.

Here's some shots of the Highlander. It's currently at a Price's Collision Center for a tear-down inspection so they can get me a good quote on what it would cost to get it running again. What I'm mostly worried about is the suspension damage to the front driver side.

I'm not opposed to spending some money on it since I got it for a steal and it's only got 86k miles on the engine. I couldn't care less about some dents on it as long as it drives.

Thanks again guys for your advice and offers of help! I'll let y'all know how the estimate looks.

Hey guys, been MIA here for quite a while. Unfortunately, PA school doesn't afford me much spare time. DOUBLE unfortunately, I found out that my truck has an upper oil pan gasket leak and I have two torn CV axle boots. The shop I've been taking it to gave me a quote for the two jobs individually and said that if I did them at the same time it would save me some money but the current quote is around $2300 for parts and labor. (Oh also, I need new pads and rotors which they quoted me $305 but I think I can figure that out.) Do these prices seem right? As I understand it you have to drop the front axle to get to to the upper oil pan which sounds pretty time intensive.

So, any thoughts on the price? This is at Christian Brothers Automotive in Knoxville off of Kingston Pike.

To replace the upper pan you apparently have to pull the trans (or atleast disconnect and shift back a hair) so that doesn’t seem too far off. Depending on if you ever want to take it off, you could just run a bead of some sort of high temp sealant or jb weld around the edge to keep it from leaking.

Good to hear from you again, how’s PA school going?

Are the CV boots on the same side?

I'm not sure how mechanical you are but replacing the entire CV axle (not just the boots) is not an overly difficult job and the parts will cost you less than $150.

    Things, stuff, and whatnot.
Replacing the axle and brakes aren't big deals, I don't know about the upper oil pan gasket though. The big question right now though is, how much is your time worth? I hope school is going well for you. Do you have any idea what you want your primary focus to be?
