    The sloppy steering is a steering rack problem, but he said if I get a new one its just a temporary fix because of the large tires. So, not much I can do there... He is saying I need to replace the timing cover because that leaks on the alternator and can cause it to go bad... So I'm trying to find out what a mechanic will charge me...

    Well the good thing about the timing chain cover gasket is it won't cause any more problems with the motor. Might do what he said but I'm not sure on that. If water can repeatedly get on an alternator from u driving around then I don't see why a lil oil couldn't. These steering racks are known for being weak but u shouldnt be just destroying that thing from putting 35s on it

    cab mount chop is in but the alignment fixed my rubbing issue so im going to hold off on it till my first willing trip to see if i rub when i flex :)

    Can you just give me a little clarification on timing chain cover gasket and valve cover gasket? I mean are those major problems? The seller is saying they are small leaks, but not enough to damage anything... He said he just changed the oil every 5k and was good to go...

    ok so the best part about damn near any gasket oil leak is . . . that is all it is . . . . an oil leak. U lose a lil oil, u put a lil oil back in. Unless u literally run the motor dry, its gonna hurt nothing to be leaking oil. I know because ive needed to replace my timing chain cover gasket for about 10,000 miles now and ive actually only added oil once and its a pretty good looking oil leak, meaning the underside of the motor is covered in oil. So cosmetically it looks like hell but mechanically it is doing absolutely no damage. Unless u are pouring oil at such an extreme rate to where u put oil in it and by the time u check it, it has already run out, then u are gonna be fine my friend. Its just a tiny rubber gasket that is worn or cracked that is causing the leak. If u dont want to tear the engine apart to replace it, u can literally put silicone over where its leaking from and that should fix it.
    Hope this makes u feel better. Trust me when i say i take care of my truck and if it was a big deal, i wouldve fixed mine by now! haha
