Hey man totally forgot.... my wife drives a 100 series LC with the 4.7. How do you think that would handle towing the fj40? Probably better than the taco lol

Funny you bring that up. One of my buddies just had his second gen Tundra totaled by a tree that fell on it in his driveway yesterday. He tows a second gen 4Runner that’s solid axle swapped/exo’ed/etc (weighs 6k or so) and an FJ40 on the Alumina trailer I mentioned in the other thread. Prior to the second gen Tundra he had a first gen with the 4.7. He struggled with keeping it cool but I think it was some lack of care...low oil and a dirty maf. Eventually the trans gave up but I think it was from a sensor plug melting and giving bad signals to solenoids. Now he’s looking at hundy’s to replace the second gen since he didn’t particularly care for the second gen. Look 03+ for the 5-speed trans and I think the power will be better than the Tacoma but the lack of wheelbase will make you feel sway more than the Tacoma.

Ah I gotcha. My wife’s has the 4 speed trans. It’s an 01 but is completely Unmodified. I was out looking at it and it has much larger brakes too. I’m mainly looking to tow to hot springs which is 3 hrs for me. I saw a 100 towing a mini truck once but I believe the Fj40s weigh more than the minis

No overdrive in the 40, deep axle gears and a 2F so I’m guessing a trailer is going to be borderline mandatory. Worst case, buy/borrow a trailer and tow with each and see which you like better. Worst worst case if you aren’t comfortable with either, I hope you don’t have a bunch of negative equity in the Tacoma and you can sell/trade in on a full size

I got a legitimate use of the roof rack on the 4R today. Ikea furniture. LOL.

Victoria is staying in Memphis for a couple nights at the Holiday Inn in Wolfchase. Is that a decent area?

It's fine. Busy. Mall and lots of restaurants at Wolfchase.

I was there yesterday for Ikea.
