That’s the old truck. Just bought a 2012 with a 3” lift and 33’s a couple months ago. Just seems to be a lot of slack in the steering. Only 67k miles.

What kind of lift? UCAs? Wheels/tires? Swaybar or not? Have you checked front end components for wear (TREs, BJs, wheel bearings, etc.)?

I believe it’s a rough country lift. Just spaced and blocks. Stock UCA’s, swaybar is still on, front end doesn’t show much wear. Stock 17” sport wheels with spidertrax spacers and 33” kanati mud hogs...or something like that.

Just ordered a set of Firestone airbags for the back of the 4Runner. Will find out next week how well they fit non-OEM coils. Cheaper than new springs. Hoping I keep the nice ride with no cargo and gain some support when hauling stuff. People don't like my HIDs in their face when the back end squats.

I had good luck putting Firestone bags inside OME springs in the back of my third gen 4Runner. You just have to leave the bumpstops longer to account for the lifted height

    That's what i was assuming.
Can the bags be stuffed in through coils without removing the spring?

Are your steering rack bolts tight? You can always replace bushings with poly to tighten things up. Steering rack, swap bar, uca and lca come to mind.

Nope, have to disco the shock to get the spring out and stuff it through an end. They are made of pretty sturdy rubber

For you guys that ride mountain bikes...

I am thinking about getting a new one. Under $1k. Able to take some abuse on rough trails with roots and such but minimal jumps.

    Suggestions?

REI had a few I liked ok and said they have 12 month satisfaction guarantee so I could return if I didn't really like it as long as it was still in good condition.

    Ghost Kato 5.9.
Cannondale Trail 7 29". Or Trail 6. I forget which.
Co-op DRT 1.2. This is REI in house brand made by Giant.

A friend suggested look at Trek Roscoe 6 but to avoid Trek's entire Marlin line.

Go to the Peddler on Highland, they'll let you ride them and the guys there are really knowledgeable. They actually service their stuff in house too.
Just my opinion, get a hard tail. Full suspension is more of a hindrance than a help imo

    Yes, hardtail.
Went to Peddlers over by UM on my lunch the other day. They didn't have much to look at. Jumped from cheap Marlin to expensive Excaliber model.

Yeah I would stay away from the marlin line. Honestly would recommend you to buy used. Bikes depreciate really fast and you can find a nice bike for about $1000 used. I don’t know much about the REI bikes but I’ve looked at them at my local store and they look solid and have decent components. For an entry level bike that will get the job done. Being in Chattanooga we probably have a much wider range of places to ride than Memphis.

Got a strange issue with HIDs.
Sometimes 1 light won't come on. Moved pieces side to side and it followed ballast. Got a new ballast and still same issue.

Turning lights on/off repeatedly about 5 times tends to work to get both on.

    Any ideas?
