On the 2nd gens is the rack in front of the "axle"?

 

Yea. It's a tight squeeze to.

 

. . . why's it so dirty?

 

That's roughly 4 quarts of power steering fluid and 2 bottles of stop leak that decided to pour out of the old rack at highway and trail speed.

Yea looks like it, not that the 1st gen is any better on the backside. I was looking at doing something similar to this back in my IFS days. Did you look at any of the TT/buggy racks they have now? Or are those way too much $$$?
