Im gonna call and order next week, i was told i should have a check to me sometime next week. I decided not to deal with a body shop. Might need some help with a little work when you get back from the event. Also i wanna sit down with you and come up with all the materials i need to buy for a cargo rack. Ill buy all the materials and supply food and beer if your still down to make one.

 

Yes sir. And I just used them on the bottom side of that bolt. I didn't see anywhere that really needed them

Gotcha, thanks. And something about drilling a hole on each side for an extra bolt? Does the bolt come with it?

 

Sweet, also i was wondering, i read that it is highly recommended i change springs in the front to run this bumper. I wanna go over options on what i should do, i would hate to replace springs and then a few months down the road ,replace them when i go to lift it

I want to build a few odd stuff and lurn how to weld than build a roof rack. one that could hold some LED light bars, (thinking 20” facing the front and maybe 2 4” on the rear and one 4” on each side) and one that could hold some real weight unlike the OEM roof rack.

I like the oem for the looks but only holds like 100 pounds. i read some posts of guys building roof racks and putting 250 or so pounds on them plus the weight of the roof rack it self.


edit: i was thinking for the roof rack just seeing if i could find a shop to do the bends for me. but would like to buy a bender if i can so i have it for a few other projects i have in mind. but don’t want to spend much on something i wont use much.

 

There are extra plates that come with the reinforcing plates. The rein. plates go on the outside of the frame and the other plates go on the inside. There is only one hole that lines up for a bolt to go through the frame so u have to drill the other one. I just didn't put the second one in! Haha

 

Your welcome to bring some tubing over and use it.

edit: may have it extend a little more forward than the front mounts.

kurt i may do that if i don’t get one. roof rack would only need like 6 bends.

 

I thought led bars have been proven to work better closer to the ground?

Like the trophy truck guys have been doing alot of lights on and below their bumpers then hids on top?

yeah i think so. but i don’t need that kinda distance. hids work better on the top/roof for distance. but i really don’t need that kinda distance. I also want to keep it kinda low profile, and have less wind drag.

main reason for roof rack is for more storage space.

 

Just make sure you get that led bar far enough back. Ive been in a few trucks that had hids and it is not fun having your windshield and hood lit up.

Well all I can say for design is triangles.

 

yeah. when i do it i will most likely get a flat black wrap for the hood.

 

That may work. Might as well wrap the whole truck while you are at it.

Any news on the meet in Gatlinburg? I am just going to ask for the Saturday off. As it will probably be the best day anyways.
