also if you do race. shift that auto. it’s an auto manual anyways. I shift thru the gears with my auto trans. any time i’m at a red light or stop sign and it’s rain and i’m on a hill i will down shift to 1st and shift back into drive, it helps to keep the tires from spinning. also if i’m going down a really long steep hill, i will down shift so i don’t have to use the brakes as much.

Haha yeah....I won't be boosted anytime soon haha

Yeah, I shift mine sometimes. Usually when I wanna hear the exhaust :D throw it in first and get it to about 4500rpm and shift to second.....:jerkoff: it sounds freaking awesome hahaha I love the sound when it shifts. Or throwing it into 3rd and hearing the high rev of the down shift. Music to my ears haha. If only it was a v8 :(

I'm sure he could take me... I can't afford to drive mine over 2,000 RPM's anyways... With a light foot it costs me about $20 a day to drive to work... But I do it with a damn smile on my face!!!!

well technically the auto trans in the taco is a auto manual since you can select all the gears just like a manual can, pretty much like a sports car with paddle shifters. but with a stick shifter instead of paddles it has an auto clutch. the FJC is the same way.

    First off "how about no!!!!"

Second, correct me if I'm wrong, but when people re-gear, don't they hear lower to help them gain torque? That's the last thing I need... That would make my 30 mile highway commute spin higher RPM's, hence worse has mileage...

My guy charged me 800 to install my 4.56 gears. I order the whole shells from ECGS and made sure it was done right, then you just have to swap. I don't know about the 4 wheel parts around your place, but I would never let the local one in Nashville do it! I went there one time for an install and will never be back. Long story that I won't get into right now.

The regear is soooooo nice! You won't regret it. Sometimes I wish I would have done 4.88, but they work fine for me and have way more power.

From what I have read, RPM's don't have anything to do with mpg. The reason everyone regears is because when you get bigger, heavier tires, the stock gearing sucks, you have no power. Driving down the interstate up a small hill your truck will loose 10 mph, because it doesn't have enough power to pull them. But once you get the better ratio, then it's like factory again. They say 4.56 is perfect for a 35, but not sure what size you said you wanted.

What about a nice 3" lift and 35s?!

I personally love the ride and ride height. 6 might be a little more trouble to get in and out of. I do like the look of the 6" inch lift though!
