    I'd go steel, aluminum is lighter but steel is stronger and will hold up to more abuse IMO plus it's cheaper.

    ^yep. if you're doing steel 3/16 is fine. 1/4 is overkill but nothing wrong with overkill. if going aluminum i wouldn't drop below 1/4 personally.

    I'm running RCI metal works on mine. The guy had a thread going introducing them. Honestly, I couldn't be happier. It's stout as hell. Although most skids (except stock) are.

    thats a bad idea. Well ...... i dont know about bad but its not gonna be easy at all. And if you are weight saving them go with aluminum but its not nearly as strong as steel and its more expensive

    Steel is strong but remember you can also gusset aluminum to make it as strong as steel, it all depends on him much time and money you wanna out into it

    dont fuckin listen to him. Gusset a skid plate!? Who does that!? By the time you add some cool gussets, you will end up with a plate as heavy as steel and 4 times as expensive. Quiet down up there northerner :rolleyes:
