good to know, going to look at some and get some good ones. we have 2, so i’d like to get a least 2 more, but would like a nice set of 4. but if i can get 2 i can take all 4 tires off at same time and just kinda get everything done a little smother/faster.

I was thinking about the drive on ramps, but realized i can’t take the tires off with those... lol I’d rather spend the money on good floor jacks that allow me to do more.

 

I know they don't I was just looking for an excuse to get rid of it all haha. Takes up a lot of space

 

Gideon i bet the truck will run a lot better and get better MPG after that gets all cleaned up. I need to do mine.

 

Dude it has no choice. Haha it's fucked up in there. It's not just dirty, it's fucked up. It's like sludge inside the intake manifold

Never. Haha also the engine bay covered in mud and dirt constantly and this cai with a thinner air filter doesn't help at all. I gotta get rid of this damn thing. It's off the truck now ....... Someone buy it who doesn't off-road as much as me. Haha

 

lol. and thats one reason i will not do a cai! i kinda want to do a afe pro drop in filter though. also the stock air intake(at least on the 4.0) is already pretty much a CAI, with drawing the air from the wheel well. probably gets cooler air than from air in the engine bay.

 

The 2.7 is also.

may i hear/read is the k&n oil filters work good if you drive in dirt a lot. only down side is cleaning/oiling it. idk but K&N but i know the atv/dirt bike filters have to be oiled, and it’s not that hard and dose not take that long really.

Don't forget the PCV while you've got the throttle body cleaner in hand.

My throttle body was almost that bad but it was a lot darker color. After ~125k miles though, I guess it was about time. MPG didn't change but it idles lower than it used to. Maybe quicker response but could be wishful thinking.

Any changes in the sound of your engine after cleaning the TB?
Mine got this odd sort of a whistle sound now during accelleration in a certain RPM range after cleaning. New gasket and hoses seem tight so I'm not sure what it is. Google says some people get that noise from CAI but I don't remember ever having it until this TB cleaning.

Carbon-y mud. Yummy. Clean that crap! 3M and Seafoam make some products to help clean the actual intake runners. Or you could just take the whole intake off and clean it that way.

 

Gid i should prob do the same haha. i don't really have idling issues but i can only imagine what mine looks like.
