    5 bucks says you get pulled over first month. I went with 20% on my fronts for that exact reason.

    My Mazda6 was 15% all the way around, never got a ticket for tint in the 3 years I was in TN. Well or pulled over for my tint.

    My winch is dead on arrival. Hooked it up to the battery to just see how it sounds and all that before I dive into tomorrow and start repacking grease. Just clicks no motor spool or anything. Checked the engage and free spool control. Neither way makes a difference. The seller is offering a full refund and paying return shipping and said will issue the refund in the morning once I have dropped it off at ups. Or will send me a new winch out tomorrow. He said this is the 3rd one from this batch that has had to be returned. The guy was very friendly and nice about everything. Should I wait for the replacement or get a tigershark 9.5 locally for close to the same price?

    fuck waiting. if you can get one locally, do it. less down time, and if you do end up with another defective one, I think it would be easier to drive 10 miles instead of waiting 10 days. of course, I hate waiting on shit :rolleyes:

    Fuck that. I bet those hours took some gettin used to. I can't sleep at all if there's any light around me unless I'm just dead tired and even then it's hard.
    Every car I've owned since I was 16 has had 5% all around. I live in a part of Memphis that cops are notorious for being dicks and being very strict. You basically don't fuck off at all without getting arrested or a ticket. Having said that, I've never had a tint ticket. What I've found to be the problem is the front windshield. Everyone I know that has tinted the windshield had gotten numerous tint tickets with 15% all around or even 30% all around. The windshield makes you completely un visible and that will piss any copper off

    They are def cheap. A buddy of mine has one on his girls jeep for a few years now with no problems too though.

    I wouldn't be completely put off by a winch that doesn't work when you get it. Shit happens. I'd be disappointed for sure but if I felt good about it when I bought it then I wouldn't feel any less good about it if it didn't work. Most people don't think about things any further then their tiny incomprehensible minds allow them to. A winch is an electronic device. The key thing to a winch is the motor and controller. If either are bad then it won't work. Not all electronics are created equal. Have you ever bought an electronic device and in a very short time period it stop operating right? Have you ever taken that item back to the store, complained about it and then walked back out with the exact same item that you now have had for 5 years working great? TRS has an ongoing group buy for projector kits here. They are widely known for having a superb product, excellent customer service and the latest and greatest ideas in vehicle lighting. Earlier this year, they mass produced ballasts that were shit that went out to thousands of people including me. They didn't work right out of the box. I was pissed just like everyone else. But instead of throwing them away and buying a $40 eBay kit, I waited a few weeks for them to build and test better ones and am running them now along with the same thousands of other people that had problems. Nothing is 100%, especially electronics.

    I'm not knocking the smittybilt at all. Like I said in the winch thread. I understand any company could have a qc issue and something slip through the cracks. The point I was asking for help on is do I wait the next week or so for a replacement or do I just go buy one locally. Northern has the tigershark for 30.00 more than I paid for smitty. I picked smitty due to the extensive talk you and I had on them. I was torn on the engo, tigershark, and xrc 9.5k. I ultimately went with the xrc9.5. Because I've seen how much you use yours and it hasn't failed. So I'm willing to wait for a replacement. The only thing I am afraid of is what if the new one is doa too.

    Oh don't get me wrong now. I'm not saying don't go get the tigershark. It very well may last you 10 years. After all we are still talking about trading a cheap winch out for a cheap winch. I made the best decision I could based on the info I found and the money I wanted to spend. So what would you do if you picked up the tigershark and it didn't work? I know I know. Your point is you take it back to the store instead of through the internet. The reason I ask that question is .... Now that you have switched out winches and got the same result, would you second guess not going with the other one? What if you you got 4 tigershark winches in a row that didn't work and the 5th one finally did. Would you be happy that you still didn't have to deal with 1 internet return? Also the superwinch tigershark has a 2 year mechanical and 1 year electrical warranty while the smittybilt xrc 9.5 has a lifetime and 3 year electrical warranty. Would you rather have the option to replace your whole winch for free every three years but have to return it through the internet or buy a new winch every three years from your local parts store? Like I said ....... Just think about it.

    Yea it's had its fair share of some good pulls.

    Every time I think you have pulled your winch out to use it it never seems to pull the object lol
    Lbl Todd used it to pull Mike out. Trail 15 it didn't pull you out and trail 21 we used both of our winches haha
