i hear it gets pricier with higher miles - either way I don’t care just wanted the comfort of it - now I’m not worried

It is also transferable or pro Rata refundable so I don’t see a ton of downside to this

oh and I can get a 100% refund within 30 days and it slowly goes down after that so yeah not huge downside risk but decent upside it I get screwed after 60k miles and no recalls catch my trans

Phoned a local dealer here up in Canada (B.C.) today.
T-SB-0076-24 hasn't been released into the Toyota Canada system yet.
Does anyone on here know how a major TSB is addressed by Toyota North America and roll out procedures for US vs Canada?
If you're in the VIN range for US/Mexico a TSB would hopefully apply to all countries...

Why would you not wait till just before the regular warranty is up and see if a actual recall is posted, that way you are not spending the money when it's not needed.

I read the price goes up as you near the 36 month cutoff. It was also $800 cheaper than what anyone in Texas was offering so I figured I would jump on it. I’ll think it over and cancel if I learn something different.

also I was thinking if these Tacomas are less reliable prices may go way up.

I might be making the totally wrong decision. I really don’t know. I just don’t know what difference it makes if I want peace of mind for 8 years either way. That’s about how long I drive vehicles. It was the cost of new tires or front ppf wrap and seems more valuable than either. But again, I could be a dumbass.. .but I’ll be enjoying my truck more and not reading daily about the transmissions.

“That finance manager also warned us that prices tend to change every six months, and even though Toyota Extra Care won’t kick in until the factory warranty expires, your quote at 500 miles and 35,500 miles will be very different. So, if you’re considering purchasing a Toyota Extra Care warranty, sooner means cheaper.”

no clue if that’s bullshit …

one last note: if you’re worried about the transmission .. I highly doubt it’ll get beyond the 60K power train warranty if it’s bad.. I am doing this purely for psychological reasons .. it’s probably overkill

Probably isn't. My truck is a 1/24 build so it's obviously in the affected trucks. I only use it for a commuter and Home Depot rat so not too worried, it can be limped home. I never keep a truck long so I'm not worried about being outta warranty :anonymous:

Why didn't Toyota use the 10spd from the Tundra? Most likely Toyota has or will get the 8spd fixed.

I’ll call corporate tomorrow and report back here and on the extended warranty thread. If it does not work I’ll return it. Let’s see what the horse’s mouth says.

The 3rd gens were all "underfilled from the factory" but I never saw a single one.

We had numerous customers come in telling us to check it because of the stupid internet panic.

I did a 2020 the other day that asked for the check and it was fine.

People just like to worry or spread worry.

Have you seen any failed transmissions on the 4th gen’s or any issues for that matter?

No, the volume has been very low.

We saw 1 3rd gen manual when they were supposedly all exploding.

I've heard it mentioned before that the first year of a new vehicle redesign should be avoided.....

Could argue the first year is the best year to buy…. Before the bean counters start cutting costs everywhere they can in preparation for the new model where all the focus will become, another thought is he first model year gets so much attention Toyota is pressured to come up with fixes for everything. As the years go by on a generation the interest in fixing known “issues” subsides.
