I've put a few tanks of gas through the truck with this tune and it is my favorite tune that I have run so far. And I've run most of the popular ones (KDMax6.0, PowerThirst, MD call-out tune)

The main thing about this tune is the shifting is not clunky or delayed like some other popular tunes I've tried. It's a great daily driving tune, its not too aggressive but still has power when you need it and the idling is very smooth. I am a huge fan of gearlock and this tune offers it. I'd recommend this tune over others if you're looking for a great daily driver. Plus, the website and how you get access to download the tune is all setup in a very easy and professional manner.

Agree with you on shifting. So important to have something that is predictable and not doing funny stuff the whole time.

Will have to request the GL file!

So just to clarify, all I order is the software bundle (linked below) and then order your tune through the website, and I will be able to tune my 2021 Pro (purchased 4/20 if that makes a difference) with my laptop at home? Do I need anything else, or do I need to take it to the dealer anything beforehand? Thank you very much for the help!

You’re correct, the VF bundle and tune files from us is all you’d need to do it at home.

You don’t need to take it to the dealer for anything. If you ever have an ECU update available, you can use the cable you receive to update at home.

Perfect, just ordered the software. I suppose I'll order the tune once that gets here and hopefully not mess anything up!

You can download the software from vftuner.com now. You will have to wait for your master key to activate it. Then your cable in the mail to use it.

Here is a great how to thread to read in the mean time.

    Hey all, first post here!

Went to a meetup here two weeks ago in Tampa, FL. Had the Valley Runner tune installed on my 21 OR. I've gotta say, i'm a big fan. The throttle response is MUCH better than stock. No more "dead pedal" feeling when you get into the first 1/4 or so of throttle. Truck feels much more responsive and wants to get up to speed (this is how it should have been from the factory). Shift points make much more sense now. Before, as others have mentioned, the truck was always in a hurry to get to 6th. I noticed a few awkward shifts immediately after the tune, but haven't noticed any since. Freeway driving is what you would expect.. holds 6th a lot better than it did before, but also doesn't immediately shift down to 4th under light to moderate acceleration. Have noticed about 1-2 MPG better, but this is difficult to track for me since my destinations aren't always the same (have been doing more city driving vs. highway miles lately. I'm getting ready to drive from Florida to Ohio for the 4th of July so i'll definitely report what my experience was on that trip. Overall, I'm so happy I did this. Makes the truck much more enjoyable than what it was.

Glad you enjoy it! It’ll definitely come in handy on the road trip. I drive every now and then from Ohio to SC. Keeping the truck in 5th and 6th is definitely a benefit on long trips

    *** Information ***

The website has been updated and Manual Transmission files are available.

MT Tunes are the first ones to have fully functioning octane learning (octane independence). These trucks also are receiving revised exhaust valve timings, as a result Exhaust Modification selection does not exist. The trucks will run just as smooth with or without exhaust work. Therefore the current version for these trucks is v2.1

ATs will receive octane learning and exhaust valve improvements gradually over the next few weeks. Updated files will be added to your account’s download section on valleytune.com

Those who still have yet to create an account should do so soon. Once you do, message me your username and I’ll link your purchases.

    ——————

Professional Installers: I have added the MT File pack to your account already. Please log in and download them when you can. Those who do not have accounts made yet, please create one and message me your username. I need to link your products.

    ——————

Now that we have reached this milestone, work will begin on additional tunes and features.

    Some of these include:

    Valley Sport
    ECO Pro project
    Proactive knock prevention
    Torque target edits
    Improved vtec style powerband

    —————

As always, thank you so much for the continued support and feedback. There is always more to come!

Will we get notified via email (if we have an account on your website) when updated files are available from the website?

Through the processing system I use, you SHOULD get an email once files are updated. I will also be sending a note to each customer on their order once files are updated. Worst case scenario, I'll post here like always and you can check the account afterwards.

I was wondering if the installer packs would have emailed you guys when I linked the MT files. I guess this means I'll need to manually send an update note to each person as I update them.

    Nonetheless, It'll get done eventually.

    ------------
    *** Information ***

We are continuing to work on these files and update each ECU ID. Please note that this will take some time to accomplish. We currently have just under 1600 different files available for download...

Sport development is nearing the beta test phase. I'm not anticipating any issues with this tune since it involves fairly straight forward edits on-top of the base VR files. Again, 1600 different variants to run through...

    Hi All,

I'm admittedly WAY behind on the tuning scene. I've been running the Mooseditty Mild + Wild tune for about 6 months and have been quite happy with it.

In the MD tune, the transition between Mild/Wild is pretty pronounced. I really like it because using the ECT button I can have a great road driving experience while leaving it in Mild I can have a much better off-road experience with a smoother throttle application.

How does this tune use the ECT button? Is there a post which details this functionality? I scanned through the first 5 pages and didn't see it.

Further, I'm on ECU 04B31, do I need to flash a TSB update?

Thanks for the help, I've been off TW for about 6 months and the progression here is crazy!

I’ve got my cable and VF license and a no-name tune file a buddy gave me for 33” tires and regular gas. My truck still hunted for gears at 80 mph and I got 16 mpg between Tucson and Phoenix. I’m ready to try Valley Runner.

These should be mostly accurate and reflect the "up to date" ECU ID. Valley Runner's file is O4B33 for 2019. (Edit: Yes you will need to be updated).

04A72 files for 2018 MTs are also included with the 2018 MT purchase.

Some people have gotten this update forced upon them by Toyota at service intervals
