    Nathan,

I’m at work tonight but I brought my laptop. I do not have any GL files to make, so I can get them done quickly

Unfortunately GL files cannot be added to your VT account since we have not made them automated for delivery (it’s an additional 1600 files to make)

These tuning sites always leave me with more questions than answers..

Is the total cost $250 for the tuning service and $40 for the tune file? Are there any other costs associated with this? And who in Colorado is performing the tunes?

Pro installers are able to charge whatever they see fit. They are not employees or contractors of Valley Tuning.

The $40 file price is what someone who has VFTuner and a cable can purchase the files for.

A customer looking to get tuned locally by an installer will be put in contact with that person. Prices vary and are not regulated.

The professional installer is responsible for obtaining the tune files.

We have an agreement with the installers to not release their information unless they request it. Some install multiple tune products and wish to remain unlisted.

$80 goes to VFTuner to unlock the VIN to flash the tune.

Yea that too. But that’s also an overhead cost for the installer.

Installers can either be someone who purchases the tunes individually ($40) and the credits per truck from VFTuner ($80).

Or they can upgrade to the installer access level on the website ($100) which grants them a code to get the tune files for $25 each and I’ll be able to reach out if I need someone tuned near them (they are lower priority than tune pack owners)

Or they can purchase the installer pack of tunes ($500) which gets them all ECU ID regular files in every gear and tire combo available. These installers get listed on the appointment request page for the areas they service, along with a unique code to purchase AGM and Exhaust files for $20 each. (Most users who have AGM tend to already have VFT anyway). Not to mention you get first opportunity for tuning requests near your area.

We try to make it more accessible for tuners to get involved as well as offset some of the overhead fixed costs associated with their operations.

Looks like in 1.3 you can revert your ECU/TCU to B81. Just read the instructions on it and looks like all the buttons are there. Test it!

Guy messaged me and is having trouble getting 1.3 to recognize and connect to his truck. Hopefully it’s a driver issue but who knows.

B82 MIGHT be included with the update, haven’t installed it to check and see.

If it’s included, I’ll build B82 files this week and update all who have B81s. This will also include all Tune Pack owners.

The same thing will happen that we did with A72 MT trucks. For the foreseeable future A71 and A72 files will be provided with tune purchases. After a few months A71 files will be phased out to save server space for the website

How are you modifying Radar CC? Looks like there is nothing in 1.3.0, and hearing there is nothing in Pro to modify those maps.

Or are you saying Radar CC and regular CC work as stock on the VR tunes?

It works the same as stock with adjusted shift points and targets through the pro software. We can’t change anything with radar. Although it would be great if one car length could actually be a car length and not a semi…

Curious about the Tune. I'm on Matt's 2.0F 91octane myself. I run 33's and 5.29's and about 300lb of added weight total. are any of the tunes locked? meaning are we able to modify them at all? I've done some tweaks for AGM Battery charging as well as i've locked out 3rd and 5th gear torque converter for towing purposes. What changes are there to the TC in ECT mode or the GL tune? are there any tweaks to fully lock out the TC? I'm curious on trying it out to see if it increases my MPG.

The files are locked to protect our intellectual property and developments. We aren’t looking to compete with ourselves with spin-off tunes.

We have many heavy trucks running the files. Closest to your set up would be @uploadadventure

The files are able to be preset for AGM batteries depending on the selections made on the website.

As for TC settings, these are uniform across the board for all ECU IDs on the AT trucks. We cannot provide multiple files for different TC settings for automatic delivery on the website (this would be multiple thousands of different combinations). I’m not above making your preferred edits to the TC settings, however with all custom or requested changes I like everyone to know that the file becomes non-representative of the original tune. Essentially you would not be running VR since the vehicle behavior will not be as designed.

We have debated with unlocked files, but again, this would most likely lead to plenty of new tunes being “developed”. If there is ever to be an unlocked file, it’ll be a rough skeleton of the base edits applied to all our tunes. If someone puts the time and effort in they may be able to recreate VR, and if they manage to do so then hats off to them on the extreme effort

    ———
    edit:

ECT is adjusted to hold the shifts longer as well as reference different torque settings. This helps with towing and maintaining the powerband.

GL files will render ECT useless as it is required to attain the shifting

I'm confused, you must have a special Pro license. Unless shift maps 2-8 adjust adaptive CC, there is nothing there to adjust relative to radar cruise.

Cruise control shift points are referenced on the same maps for radar and non radar cruise? These are the maps at the very top of the program when opened.

Ive never had anyone with radar cruise not experience shift point changes while using the tune.

From my understanding, all the radar trucks have over regular is the automated braking and lane keep. Besides that, the cruise is the same

I understand that for sure, it makes sense. In my specific case it may be beneficial to just remain tuned how I am. I do appreciate you mentioning about making edits to the tune, that's pretty sweet and I may take you up on it if i decide to go this route. It's nice to have a tune dialed in for towing. In 2.0F i'd drop to 3rd towing my TT and that tune is tuned to never ever lock the TC in 3rd so my temps would rise instantly quickly. in 5th cruising flat on the highway i'd constantly lock/unlock/lock/unlock dance so i got that solved as well. It's really fun when you finally figure out how to "fix" these issues.

Congrats on making what sounds like an awesome tune.

Yea it’s a big relief when you solve a problem through the tune haha. Like when 2018 MTs were the only truck that ran like crap on the tune… took a week or two and a complete ground up redesign of the tune to make it work.

I think part of the relief is just the temporary insanity being cured

In my testing, along with many others, changing any of the maps below {left) has no effect on Adaptive CC. It drives as stock. To my knowledge, there are no other shift maps available in Pro then what's shown below. There were some CC patches that vF had in earlier versions of vF that seemed to help normal CC, but nothing to date has worked on radar CC. Those regular CC patches seem to be missing in 1.3.0 also.

Image below shows the only maps (VFT EROM) I've ever been able to modify regular CC with and they haven't been in vF for several releases. Maps on the left available now do nothing for CC. What are you changing to get CC to shift different than stock?

The EROM Cruise shift maps have worked for changing shift points in cruise for me. Pro has a few additional maps for cruise control which have to do with input and output shaft speeds and some other specifics related to transmission.

Unless those who have radar cruise have never reported issues or simply not cared, to my knowledge all cruise shift point changes in VR have taken effect on trucks. I’ve even managed to get my truck to shift WAY too soon in cruise (granted I don’t have radar but some of my testers do)

I think you might need more testing for radar CC. Nothing has worked to date to adjust those shift points in my and others testing. Are you seeing the EROM stuff in 1.3.0 Pro?

I’ve had them since 1.2.9.9.7 pro.

Idk have yet to be told anything by any radar cruise trucks. If they report anything odd back to me I’ll definitely make any changes to remedy like usual.
