    Update:

Mat from VFTuner has resolved the issue for us. Bits and pieces of the upcoming VFTuner update were applied and we seem to be back up and running. I guess in the soon to be released version the system which credits ECU IDs to an account will be reworked. Ultimately, the software appears to be working as intended.

We will resume the ECU ID conversion process as soon as possible.

Big thanks to Mat and VFTuner for the quick remedy!

The more I drive with this tune, the happier I am with it. Today, just playing around, I was able to slow down to a touch under 15 mph, ruing around 750 rpm in 4th gear and accelerate back up to speed. This was on a level stretch and I'm running stock tire size, though there was about an inch of well churned snow on the stretch of road where I did this. The power I now get in the lower rpm range fits my driving style much better and makes the truck more enjoyable.

Earlier in this thread I had asked if it was worth tuning a manual. Having now done it, my answer is, Yes.

Still converting and struggling with software. V1.5 of VFTuner has been hit or miss with our files in the conversion process.

Supposedly there is a "New ECU Tool" which would automatically apply the changes to new ECU IDs, saving about an hour of time per ECU ID.

However, nobody has explained where this tool is or how to access it. So we are still trucking along manually applying changes to each map :help:

We have finished 4Runner VS files so far, roughly 1/5th of the 4Runner VR files, and 1/5th of the Tacoma VS files

I feel your pain. I just did my first manual conversion and it took forever. I even saw your post in the vftuner forum when I was looking for a faster way. It’s weird cause the took was mentioned while back. I thought maybe it was for pro tuners only, but I guess that is not the case

I was not able to locate TC locking/unlocking S1,S2,S3 maps on 1.5 under all user levels.
    Do you see them? Thanks.

They are renamed I believe. We will need to open the maps one by one, click the blue I info icon, and look at the mapID.

The v1.5 update brought plenty of good features but at the same time it brought a new learning curve to it.

Really wish we had that New ECU Tool :bananadead:

I did look through every TC lock table under the sun. Still unable to locate. If you find, let me know. I had a distinct map for 3rd and now unable to modify. Thanks.

Don’t you love it when they do the biggest software dump in their history, then take a couple of weeks off.

That version is almost a year old at this point. Unfortunately we began developing for B04 only, eventually branching out into the other ECU IDs. Free tunes have somewhat become a thing of the past from tune providers.

We will be working on new projects at Valley Tuning once the long process of conversions is complete. There is always something more to come.

How is the conversion process coming along? Do you have a rough idea when sport will be released?
Valley runner changed my truck so much for the better that I can't wait to see what valley sport will do!

    Major Developments Coming

    Hello everyone!

It has been a while since we published an update on numerous forums and our website’s blog postings. We have been diligently working towards the conversion of Valley Sport for the 3rd Gen Tacoma. After hitting a few snags in development, contracting COVID among our entire staff, and taking a break for the holidays, we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

As such, we would like to clarify a few things for those who have questioned the time required for developing tunes or updates. Valley Tuning rigorously tests each and every tune produced to ensure not only its effectiveness in providing a noticeable improvement to your vehicle’s driving dynamics, we also perform longevity testing to ensure that the engine and transmission’s components remain unharmed from these edits. With Valley Runner, we took an aggressive tuning philosophy and then dialed back until we reached a near perfect product. Sport, however, is a different beast and leaves no map unedited within the tune file. Many of these maps have multiple parameters that the engine computer references, each page of parameters must be edit in order to prevent catastrophic failure from occurring. In all, Sport has logged over 15k miles on the in-house test trucks and over 10k on external tester’s vehicles. To paint a more clear picture, Valley Runner files being converted from one ECU to the next took roughly 3hrs for each file, Sport is taking around 7hrs for each to ensure the data is transferred properly. Once converted we need to create the files necessary to provide options for tire size and gear ratio, agm options, gear lock options, etc. Sport is NEARLY complete with this process due to the delays experienced over the past few weeks.

We are also consistently working on other projects and different areas of the company to provide the best experience and product for you all. Some of these projects are listed below…

    UPCOMING:

    • Valley Sport Conversion for 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma
    • Valley Runner & Valley Sport release for 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner
    • Valley Runner & Valley Sport development for 2nd Gen Toyota Tacoma
    • Numerous website changes and Installer features
    • Improved support for Professional Installers
    • Potential Development for additional vehicles (4cyl Tacoma & other manufacturers)
Within the next week or so we will be rolling out an improved way to find installers and make tuning appointments. No more long forms to fill out and lengthy emails, numerous ways to pay for tuning, and the ability to contact the installer of your choosing directly.

    UPDATES:

    • Pre-Tuned ECU purchases have received a rework of how the process of ordering is done.
    • New contract with Affirmtm providing customers with the option of 4mo ZERO interest payments on ALL Valley Tuning Products
    • Slight website redesign, easier to navigate and find what you need
    • Server updates to handle increased traffic loads and order processing
As always, we greatly appreciation all of your support and patience with the ongoing changes and development we have. We may not always be available on forums but you can always reach us for questions and comments through our website’s contact us form. Contact Us

    Jeff D

We have converted all of the Tacoma files. During testing, we discovered that all the files converted within the latest VFTuner (within the last 3 updates) produced a no-start issue or would shut the truck off immediately after putting them into gear. Files converted in the previous updates of VF worked fine. Unfortunately, the ones that worked are of a early beta test for Sport and nowhere near the finished product.

As such, we have resorted to testing and re-developing from the ground up for Tacoma. Unfortunately, the latest version of VFTuner removed the blue information button on the maps. This button would allow us to see the ECU Map ID to ensure that we are editing the correct parameters, with this being removed it is more or less a shot in the dark when it comes to duplicate named maps.

Additionally, as other users have mentioned before, some maps which were crucial to the development of sport have been removed or renamed within the software. Renamed is fine since we can find this through a bit of searching, but the ones that have been removed will need an additional bit of developing to sort it out.

@YotaTuneR is currently cycling through 14 experimental files looking for the issues caused by this software change. I'm hopeful that what he finds matches what I found earlier in the week and attempted a fix.

16-17 seem independent of the issue, all other years result in no start or shut down upon shifting from park.

Hopefully this means we are in the final stretch of this process? 4Runner files are all but finished with us only awaiting the final test results to come in. Collectively these SUVs have logged almost 10k miles on the tune files.
