The light throttle version is great! Throttle sensitivity is spot on without sacrificing the low end torque. Truck will still pull with just a tad bit more pedal which makes the truck a lot more controllable. Great job @TermLimits

    *** Announcement ***

We are close to having the premium tune files available. It is looking like before the end of the month every ECU will have the edits completed. Those of you who purchased Valley Runner are in a list on my computer, you will receive the premium gasoline files automatically.

Once I complete the premium conversion for 04B04 it will be tested on my truck to ensure function and safety.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: Just reached the 700mi marker on the STANDARD. Miles Per Gallon went from 16.3 - 17.5

Overall this is a great tune. I am normally heavy on the gas pedal, and although this has a more "Mildly-Aggressive" Tip-In, I was not disappointed. Many have gained plenty more MPG than I have, and if I drive more conservatively I DO see that benefit shining through. I drove in both the rain and dry pavement, and likely the rain was what helped me slow down a tad...lol

Again, I had zero issues with "gear hunting". @TermLimits did a very nice job on this tune.

I'm heading out to flash the HEAVY. I will report back on that. My understanding is that it is mostly the same, with the exception of a heavier Tip-In.

    *** Major Announcements ***

Thanks to everyone for the support surrounding this tune and it's features. I understand that it is always exciting and nerve-wracking installing a new tune file on our trucks. The results people have been getting from MPGs to power gained has been 100% along the lines of expectation with these files, but don't worry more will come soon enough.

As my wife and I finish up the edits on the premium gasoline versions of Valley Runner, I wanted to reach out and explain the direction that I believe will best suit the users, installers, Tacoma World, and our business.

Our full time jobs have slowly but surely began to pick up steam as COVID trends downward, as such some of you may have noticed I asked for a bit of time in preparing your files. Therefore, I believe it is necessary to look into the following changes:

    ------- For Users -------
I will soon be implementing a website which will have the purchase options listed there. The goal for the store is to allow you guys and gals to select what options your truck has (tires, gears, agm battery, etc). This will be noted by the checkout process and upon completion you will be emailed a unique download link to the file pack for this combination. Unfortunately, this means I'll need to pre-make PLENTY of combinations (480 to be exact); however it is simply a task of changing a few map options. A couple beers and I can knock it out.

There will still of course be the option for requesting a unique tune for those who may run monster truck tires, dual batteries, etc. This option will be free to anyone who purchases a tune until the next major update (when 2.0 becomes 3.0 eventually. TBD). So if you buy for stock tires and upgrade later, you'll just need to reach out and obtain a new file set from us.

Regarding updates, the platform we are looking into using will allow for updated files to automatically be sent out once they are added to the system. This means that if you bought 2.0.3 and 2.1 is released, you'll be emailed a new link with the files for your truck.

The pricing may need to increase to between $31-$35 for the file pack in order to accommodate the fees and taxes associated with this. Yay taxes...

    ------- For Installers -------
I understand that most of you would like to know the fees related to installing Valley Runner and the future tunes in development. This structure has not changed and will not for the foreseeable future. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

    1. Tuners have the option of purchasing the premade tune library, minus AGM and exhaust edits for a flat fee ($300). Any additional edits needed for your customers will be free but we will need some lead time. (Edits exclude AGM and Exhaust, these are individual only options)
    2. You may also purchase the files individually before install for $20 each. We will also need some lead time but each file will be tailored to your customer's truck. This is only for those who have purchased VR personally in the past.
    3. Contract Style Installs *NEW*
      1. This involves a customer requesting a tune in your local area on the website. We will collect the payment from the customer and "bid out" the install on a first come first serve basis to someone in that area.
      2. You and I will work out the best times you'd be available within that week and convey it to the customer.
      3. The service will be $250 (billed to customer), We keep $50 you get $200.
      4. You will be required to bring a 1A battery maintainer and run it from the outlet in your bed while tuning their truck (minimizing brick potential)
Obviously the contract style installs are not going to make you as much as offering the service yourself, however this is a lead generation mechanism. It costs you nothing (maybe a sticker on your back window or something). The thought is that if someone finds the website in California and doesn't have the software, they can make arrangements to get the tune.

The pricing may change for customers depending on what Mat's new credit pricing structure will be.

Additionally, all the files are .vfc meaning you need to update. No more screwing Mat over when someone tunes a customer without using credits.

    ------- For Tacoma World -------
We all know that the tune files are locked when you purchase them and that edits need to be done by us. Some of your are skeptical to install locked files and rightfully so. We plan to benefit the tuning community on here by offering the base edit of Valley Runner for free or donation only.

This will take a small amount of time for the wife and I to determine what we will offer as the base tune and to convert the files into all ECU IDs. Most likely it will be reverted back to version 1.6. This version was the final framework for the changes that later became v2.0 and on.

This will not only allow users to make their own edits built off the framework of the tune, but will continue to offer a bridge for those willing to invest in a paid version.

What this will not do is that it will not provide an easy means for those looking to make a quick buck off a free tune. The base file is going to be chosen specifically to give a bone structure to your own tunes, but it will continue to be far exceeded by the paid versions.

    ------------

Again thank you to everyone who has been supporting this tune. Huge thanks to all our tester's and their commitment to providing insight and feedback.

Valley Runner 2.0.3 remains the current version. Premium fuel will be released later this month, you will be sent this through our TW conversations.

There may be one or two spin offs from VR in the future, definitely not going to be a one trick pony over here.

Definitely recommend checking out this tune and running it.
The work Jeff is doing is above and beyond. It is worth the bit of money for his time.

Messing around with some experimental tunes. Stumbled upon this gem of a creation

It’s sad the tires spun pretty good on launch. Might have cost me a fraction of a second but every little bit counts with a truck

That sounds like a great idea for making tailored versions of this available. Any estimate on when that might happen? Will you do these manually if the info is sent to you in the meantime?

Yea I can still do it manually and will continue to do so even after the website.

I’m probably a month out from the website however

For a $200 flat fee I'll be installing the Valley Runner Tune in the states of MD, VA (north), DC, CT, PA (eastern), NJ, NY (eastern). NYC/5 Boroughs I'll meet outside in surrounding areas. Everything is included, Tune, ECU TSB update, Test drive and Reflash if needed, battery tender during install and yes I pay the $60 vfTuner fee.

For a $150 flat fee I'll do all the above if you travel to me in zip 08065 or 19446.

Jeff has made a great product with the VR 2.0.3 Tune. AT owners now have one of 150 tunes to choose from to match your truck with tire size, gear ratio and standard or light throttle tip in. MT owner tunes will be done by the end of the month, along with premium fuel for all versions totaling 480 tunes. AGM battery and Exhaust customization can be added to any of these for a nominal fee of $20.

PM me for scheduling, payment options and questions.

2.0.3 will remain the most updated version of the tune.

Premium will be complete soon same with MT trucks. I’ll then be dedicating the majority of my efforts into the website and branding.

    *** Updates ***

    Premium

The premium gasoline files have been completed! I will begin sending each of you the files customized for your vehicles tomorrow morning. This may day a day or two to accomplish so please be patient.

DO NOT flash this file to your truck unless you have a full tank of premium 92+ octane fuel!!! The file is designed to run like most high end brands, lower octane fuel may result in knocks.

Again, the company and myself are not responsible for any damage caused by the improper usage of the tune files.

    File Type Changes
I have noticed that only 2 trucks have opted to run the Heavy file. With 85% of users preferring Light over Moderate.

As such, I have removed Heavy from the file packs. To those who have a significant amount of weight added to the trucks or those who tow heavy trailers often, I will provide a heavy file upon request free of charge if you purchased VR in the past.

No other changes have taken place and VR 2.0.3 remains the final and most updated release.

    What's Next
I will take a day or so following the distribution of premium for my own enjoyment then begin finalizing the Manual Transmission variants. I am hopeful that the MT trucks will be able to finally have a working tune option separate from the small selection currently available.

It will be at least two weeks before MT tunes are available in a limited, untested capacity. Shortly after they will be available like normal.

The website continues to be developed slowly but surely. The cost of doing this adds up and will require monthly/annual payments to maintain. As a result, once the website is up VR will increase in price slightly to accommodate taxes and support operating costs.

Lastly, I have started to dabble in the theory of a strictly performance tune. I intend to maintain the feeling of consistency that VR has provided, yet boost the low in performance significantly.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you again to everyone who has purchased the tune. We now have surpassed the mark of 30 trucks from TW running this tune along with the numerous locally tuned vehicles across the country. Feedback has been nothing but positive from everyone, for that I am grateful.
