Any potential issues you guys can think of with running gen. 1 headlights without the drl add a fuse?

 

I read the replies from 2 folks that related to my issue. I contacted Morimoto support regarding the DRL's coming on for a minute or so when the truck was not running. They said to try another 10amp fuse that would have 12 volt power when the truck was running, but no power when shut off. They could not recommend another fuse due to not having tested the issue enough.

I assume that they can't offer a suggestion due to CYA in the legal realm since they haven't tested this.

I did not try JaTe's installation on his 2017, where he didn't use the fuse relay and his lights function properly.

I tried the AC fuse method using the relay that CanadaToy suggested, so far so good. I'm in western PA, so the fan is on for the defroster all winter, and I tend to have it on all other seasons on low anyway with windows open or not. no issues to this point. And have not noticed the DRL's coming on when the truck is parked.

 

Just like AlphaRex is relabeled Chinese Vland products, it appears the Morimoto XB headlights are relabeled Taiwanese CoPlus products:

I really like them, I do mostly night driving and am very happy with the increased output, only thing is the aiming of each globe per side, they dont make crisp flat lines like I would like, even from a distance you can notice the slight misalignment they have. Would be 10/10 if I could adjust each globe. High beams are a major improvement, upgraded to the gen 2s instead of doing pod lights. I also installed Rigid 360s for fogs at the same time as upgrade.

 

You align each light per side, align 3 for each headlight?

It really is just me not liking that I can see where each of the 6 lights are aimed when i start my truck. If they were vertically aligned it would be fine. The output is amazing though, if you have the spending money, I personally would recommend. Crashnburn80 did a very good review of them post #4548 here

 

For those of you with XBs, are your DRLs on the "high" mode when you have your parking lights on?

With the stock lights, my LED DRLs would be on "high" in all stalk settings except when the low-beams are on, where they would dim. With the XBs, it seems like the DRLs are on a "low" mode when the low-beams OR parking lights are on. I prefer to drive with my parking lights on all the time, so I have the back end lit up, but I'd rather not have to sacrifice the DRLs for it. My XBs are Gen 2's, in case that makes a difference.

EDIT: It seems like I may have just not noticed the factory DRLs being dimmer at the parking position, since I always ran in that position. Whatever the case, I don't think there is an issue with the XB lights.
