After reading up on these XB headlights and trying to understand their compatibility, I’m just looking for confirmation my understanding is correct.

I have a 23 SR5 that DOES have “DRL Off” on the stalk but will still need to drl harness to the INJ fuse. Also I’m of the understanding that white drl’s wont work.

    Is my understanding correct?

Almost, the white drl works, my sr5 has the drl off on the stalk. The only way the Amber drl is on the sr5 is if you have the “daytime running lights” setting ON in the head unit. When it’s OFF like mine, the drl is white. 85027C0E-921A-4B91-BA55-57607C3C619B.jpg Using the inj fuse tap, the stalk controls on my sr5, with “daytime running light” setting OFF in the head unit is: drl off = white, auto = white, headlights and parking lights =white.
When “daytime running lights” setting is ON inside the head unit, the stalk setting is as follows: drl off=white, auto+parking brake down= Amber, parking lights = Amber, headlights on =white.
If you want the white drl, make sure you go inside your head unit and disengage the daytime running light setting. Basically on the sr/sr5 the daytime running light circuit is tied with the turn signal, as opposed the the trd models with the seperate led drl. I also recommend keeping the daytime running light setting off in the sr5 because the xb’s have a turn signal resistor, running them in Amber drl means the resister will get hot quickly, and could cause the headlight to fail.
If you want the Amber drl, it’s probably better to order the Amber drl model, the white drl model is $1300 while the Amber drl model is $1500 on the morimoto website.

2019 OR - Factory DRL. No fuse tap.

Had the Gen 1's and everything worked fine.

Swapping to the Gen 2's and the passenger side turn signal is blipping.
    Start-up sequence also not working.
Low beams, high beams and DRL works.

Just the turn signal. 4-way hazard. Lock/unlock. Just blips.
Both sides has this harness. Matches the one from the Gen 1 I had installed. Even checked the one off the Gen 1. Same results.

Hey all! got a puzzling/funky situation.

Working with a friend of mune who has a 2016 TRD Sport and were trying to install Morimoto XB LED v2 with the white DRL.

    Problems:
Lows do not work at all
High only works on drivers side
    Startup Sequence is not working

    What does work:
    DRL’s work
    Sequential Turn signals work

    Solutions Tried:
    Reversed polarity
Checked all the fuses and they are good. (low fuses never blew but one high did during install)

    Please Help! LOL

Hey guys, new here so rather than search through countless of forums I’d thought I’d just ask.

Just installed the Amber DRL Morimoto headlights into my 21 Taco and I noticed that the DRL stays on even when the truck is still running but the headlight stalk is in the off position. Any fix for this? I still want the DRL to be on when I turn the headlight stalk to just the DRL without turning on the projectors. My old Alpharex headlights did that and I liked it.

Thought about maybe just plugging it into a different fuse. Suggestions?

It’s because of the fuse tap you used. There isn’t any tap in the fuse box that will work as a drl. Is your truck and sr5 or trd model? If it’s a trd model ditch the fuse tap entirely and use the factory drl plug. If it’s an sr5 you’ll just have to live with the drls being on while in the off position

Don't use fuse tap = problem solved, but creates another problem with drl not being as bright white when you intentionally use them.

It’s a 2021 TRD Off Road model that had the halogen stock headlights. I don’t remember seeing a factory DRL plug. Where can I find that?

Just ditch the fuse tap. I had initially installed using the fuse tap but removed it because the drls were constantly on and would occasionally turn on in the middle of the night.
I removed the fuse tap and everything is peaches and works as expected, besides parking brake needs to be released to get the start up sequence. - 2020 off road with halogen stock headlights.

The fuse tap is really just for the start up sequence. And for sr5 models it gives us a brighter DRL since our drl signal is tied to our turn signal. Also it sounds like you tapped the fuse to the efi like their instructions say which is poor advice on their part. Best tap location is the ignition fuse

IMG_3062.jpg This is the factory drl plug for the trd models, plug it into the headlight and unplug the fuse tap. You will have to reconnect the two plugs that the headlight came plugged in with where the fuse tap connects. Also yeah the drl wont come on until ebrake is released that’s how the factory drl is

Yeah I just went based off the instructions. Do you know what’s the name of that fuse? I also have some grille lights tapped into another fuse.

I see, so don’t use the fuse tap at all? Didn’t even know that was an option but based on what you’ve described that seems to be what I’m looking for. Thanks!

I have my grill lights tapped Into my lowbeams fuse for now. Eventually I'll get a t harness that taps em into something else.

This is the inj fuse I tapped for morimotos
