Redline custom leather shift and e-brake boot. VFTUNE Super Full Otto cycle, octane learning, premium fuel.
The offroad has a very expensive wonder brake master cyl. It has a locking rear differential. I found one with a 6 spd manual.

Going from a 04 Ram 2500 Hemi 2wd… it’s so much nicer a ride. That Ram wasn’t cutting it for my hunting lease and had 1/4 million miles so it was time. Plus the Taco fits in the garage next to my Charger so it’s a little safer from the Texas Panhandle random hail storms.

Off Road… sport and truck don’t belong in the same sentence. If You want a sport, buy a Porsche :notsure:

Sport, because I was sold on the hood scoop and didn't think I would do much off roading. I was mistaken on the last part and have had a couple of occasions the locker would have come in handy.

    Like, so many.
I’ve owned both. The sport is definitely stiffer. You can off road it, but you’ll notice a difference. The OR has a “floaty” feel and I always felt it sort of nosedived on hard breaking. It’s handles the trails really well though (as long as you aren’t doing crazy trails).

It was configuration that made that choice for me. In Canada, an Off-Road, DCSB, 6MT isn't an option. So I have a Sport, DCSB, 6MT instead. Not really a big deal though, the only thing I was interested in with the Off-Road was the locker and that is easily added when I decided I need it.

With the Off-Road, I would have added the Skewp, for me the locker is an easier thing to add...

Offroad has the differential locker. If you want to go offroad it's a capability multiplier.

    Sport has .... a skewp?

I don't understand why people buy the sport.

    1) I wanted a manual.
    2) I don’t off road.

If the SR5 still came with a MT, I would have gone with that.

I bought mine because a sales guy punched me in the arm and said "stop looking at that Yaris. You don't want that. You want a truck. You want THIS truck. And this is how much you're going to pay for it."

And I stared back at him, squared my shoulders, and said "...yes sir."

I wanted an Inferno. The year is 2021. I must buy used. Pickings were slim.

    I preferred the off-road because:
    1. I like the matte black fender flares
    2. The hood scoop, while cool, blocks more view of the road.

So off road it was if I had a choice. I only found two Infernos near me. They were off roads. So there was no choice. Well, actually there was.

Dealer A had a 2018 with 9k miles. He was asking 41k for it. Dealer B had a 2018 with 21k miles, tube step bars, and roof rack. He was asking 37k.

    I went with option B.

And after denting/ cracking a chrome butt cheek cover, I replaced them with matte black ones to match the fender flares.

We bought a 2012 Sport for my wife. Has a mild lift and improved wheels, and tires. Found I needed a locker. So, when it was my turn for a new truck I picked the OR. I don’t mind the fact that the scoop was on their for looks. Aesthetics matter to some folks (my wife is in this category, but don’t understand how she picked me.). my problem with the scoop,as a practical matter is the sun glare off of it when the sun lines up just wrong.

The Sport look got me to stop, the ride sold the truck.

Driving is about the only thing I do just for enjoyment anymore. Every time I get in the truck it says "game on, let's roll" -- some folks may consider the ride harsh, hard or busy, I term it engaging, you know you are doing something.

Hours into a road trip I'm still on my game, interested and enjoying myself. That was the whole point of buying the truck.

Disclaimer: We take road trips -- just not off road trips.
