After a few months of tinkering i finally finished the prototype. I just have a few minor things i need to address with spacing. These are 2gen, my 3rd gen proto are done but need refining.

The trail vents allow ventilation while preventing mosquitos from entering in. It also reduces the amount of dust that gets in.
The vents kill that helicopter sound you usually get with your windows lowered.
It kills that oven effect you get when you open the door in the heat.
Helps vent the funky clothes and overnight bags left in truck.

    Dogs love them!

These are 100% aluminum, they slide into the track and are secured in place with the glass.

For the first 20 im doing $200 shipped and will include a taco bottle opener. Ill posted a link later on.

    https://ogfab.com/products/2gen-tacoma-og-trail-vents

Ill be up front and tell you that it will take me about a month to get them all out, they are made on a cnc but still require a good amount of habd fabricating. i make each set my self and i do it on the weekends. It consists of 6 parts minus the rivets.

Ill be offering different styles. Ill post pix of random ones ive done on the 4runner etc. too.

Here is my 3gen taco prototype i did last year and never finished. These have channel visors in it. 2gen has enough clearance. This occupies the space of the glass andnits the same thickness which is why it clears.

So do these sit on the glass and function as an extension? How do they work in keeping rain out?

They arent that bad, the holes in the mesh are small so water doesnt really flow through it. On my personal truck i use rain gaurds because it rains every other fart here in south florida.

Very cool, and practical out here in the desert as well - added to the truck’s “to buy” list for certain.

Is the $200 price per pair or per individual vent?

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
You know, you could do one for the rear sliding window, too (at least on the Tacoma). Just a thought.

Another possibility... A guy I work with made something similar for his truck while it was parked, only he mounted 3 small 12V "muffin" fans on one panel that would draw air in from the panel on the other side so that the cooler outside air was circulating through. The fans were powered by some solar cells just tacked to a board that he'd toss on top of the dashboard, so there was no current drawn from the battery. Only works when the sun's out, but that's when some cooling would be nice.
