Exactly what i did! Purchased my 2019 OR DCSB for $37,000. Purchased 285/65/r18 BFG KO2s on 18in fuel rims (quantity of 5 for a full spare) and ICON Stage 4 suspension for just under $6500 including labor costs for a shop to install it all. $43,500 at this time invested in my truck and it is, in my opinion, better equipped than the TRD PRO which costs close to $50,000.

Agree with both here. I paid just a touch over $44K for my 2020 AG Automatic Pro.
Get a quote on similar equipped OR and you'll be damn near in, the ball park.
And I didn't buy it to resale it. But I'll get every penny of the difference back God willing and the creek don't rise if I ever do.

I bought DCLB OR in Super White. The color only shows daily dirt when right up on it. And here in Florida stays much cooler inside. I did upgrade the shocks and struts to TRD Pro Fox, and the TRD CAI. Will likely do the TRD Pro Exhaust as well. Keeping it all toyota as much as possible.

If money is not an issue, i would definetily get the pro. The coolest looking stock mid size truck imo, and it comes with all the goodies of the OR plus some extras.

I agree that it comes as a complete package stock. If you're planning on buying the pro and keeping the suspension it comes with, then it's definetely worth it to purchase the PRO trim IMO. If you're like me and plan on lifting the truck and getting bigger tires, this would require a suspension replacement which would defeat the purpose of buying a pro since it comes with the fox 2.5 resis, which are really a great option.

Oh for sure if you are planning to replace the suspension, pro would be a very poor choice. If thats the case maybe an SR or an SR5 would be a much better option :)

Honestly I like the locker on the OR trim, also comes with CRAWL (I honestly have no use for this, at least not yet) and the black fenders.

Right the CC, forgot about that. OR is the best trim IMO. I wanted the off road originally but its not offered in DCSB with MT here, only the access cab. Still, i love my sport though. Best vehicle ive owned.

Id buy a SR, I don't need a locker and add the pro shocks and wheels. You could buy better aftermarket shocks for you money.

How 'bout the base 4x4, and building up from there?
Get in at the lowest starting price.
Upgrade/toss out nothing you paid 'extra' for.
Only pay once for the (much better) after market mods you really want.

Really depends how closely a factory build matches your exact desired build in the end, I suppose.

    I Agree.
This is particularly true in these times of production shortages where the 'expected' OR discounts were not quite there to be had... If one is able to avoid the dreaded dealer mark-up then you are essentially at the same price point for the two Taco versions.

In this case, the value of the PRO - plus time savings in not fiddling with (at least) those upgrades, - makes sense.

I think anyone -given a similar price point would choose the PRO - even if only to get more $$ from selling the undesired PRO bits...

I also agree that based on some of the logic above, the most reasonable Tacoma model to buy is the SR...

OR. Cheaper and she still slaps.

TRD Pro wasn't even in my mind when I bought mine because I wanted the 6' bed.

I went with a Pro because by the time I optioned out the Offroad the way I wanted it, I would have to order or allocate one which I was told could take 2 months. The price was also with $1800 of a Pro. A Pro fell into my lap when a guy ordered one in Lunar Rock and didn't like it!!
